A friend of a friend of mine was browsing through my page and saw this image.
He called me and said that he wanted an acrylic or an oil version of the image. I agreed and got to work. The result :
Six or five layers of paint, one to three hours per layer. The size is about the size of an A2. Not sure about the price i'll put on this ..
Comments and crits are welcome, and if anyone knows how to give this damn thing an even shine, please tell me. Some areas have lots of linseed oil and others don't - and that makes it look bad in direct light. Can I do anything about it ? ( Or are oil paintings supposed to be that way ? I'm still a newbie to oils, mind you. )
edit : oh, those brown blobs next to the right edge are parts of the painting stand.

You need to varnish the painting if you want and even shine, if the paint has a lot of texture then start with a high gloss then layer a semi-gloss over that. If it is relatively smooth coat with a high shine.
I think the pic needs to be seriously cropped, that are you need to drop something into the right side of the pic. |

I don't know about the varnishing, but in my painting class we used Liquin to give it a shine and also used it inbetween layers. Anyway it works well to give a consistant shine over the whole painting and it also protects the paint underneath. Good stuff, its handy for glazes and blending too.
I like the painting btw
