Great stuff man! I really like the style...
There's just two things I'd change:
-The hero's head is so "embedded" in the monster's arm, it doesn't stick out enough, IMHO. Also, the arm of the monster looks bent in a strange way. But maybe you were going for this.
-the way he's holding the sword doesn't suggest he can put a lot of power into his grip. He seems to be holding it on the lowest point he can, which doesn't seem quite logical...
I took the liberty of very loosely changing the above, just to give you an idea of what I mean; Hope ya don't mind.
Just my 2 cents, keep posting these pics, I love 'em.

bjorn: the lower you hold the sword the more power not vice versa... since i like to play with swords a lot i know... same thing with a hammer... you don't grab it from near the head.. |

Dives: You're right there, ofcourse...what I meant to say is that with a sword, IMHO, you tend to want control as well, and the guard near your hand. In my experience, holding the sword at the lowest possible point means you can't control the blade quite as much.
But that's just my opinion.

Thats a really cool picture COS, i like it alot! Took me a while to figure out what was, exactly, what, but that's probably just me . And personally, i think COS had the guys hand position, perfectly fine. It look's really awkward in that other one.

*withdraws his comment about the hand entirely*
And yeah, I know the hand looks awkward in the other one...I'll take more than a few seconds next time. If I'm gonna critisize it, I hafta make it look better, not worse. *S*
I'll just shut up now. |

Jezebel - Thankyou jez =)
Bjorn - Thanks man =) I agree about the head is too alligned with
the arm of the monster, maybe that makes it look a little confusing..
As for the way he holds the sword and the bent monster arm, that was
inetntional. To be honest there is a few things I don't like with this
pic, but overall I'm quite pleased with it. Which is cool coz it seems
ages for me to be happy with something. I do appreciate your (or anybody
elses) constructive input/crit with it tho
andskj - Thanks =), They are pretty enjoyable to do. I didn't really get
into them back when it was the sijun craze lol, as I had to put up with
using a mouse. But now I'm getting into the wacom it's much easier.
Dives - Thanks
neebhore - hehe you like to shout my name alot :P Thanks =))
Shadowman - nah man, that warrior guys got some mad skillz =)) Thanks
Shadow, glad you liked it =) Right now I don't have a webpage up, I had one
up before but problems with the blahblahblah soo, I'm currently re-organising
some stuff and hopefully soon. I'll post a link when its up tho. |

Hey bud, I would only advise you to use thinner lines for the background to make the foreground stand out...that, or some blur to fake the dof
Heheh, neat pic |

Lukias - Thanks! that's pretty much the style I wanted with this piece =)
Creepfever - Thankyou, I've had a lot of inspirations, too much to mention
at the risk of sending you to sleep lately I would say its been the king
of kings Justin Sweet ( suprise suprise hey =) ) and Bob Harvey who used to
illustrate some of the old time Ian Livingstone and Steve Jackson adventure
books, and he did the Way of the tiger ones too. His b/w illustrations are
excellent.
Rhombs - Thanks man =)
Kos - Thx =) |
