oh yes they can.. but most people use wacoms

i am learning to draw with my mouse.. making some drawings, instead of skins, and other work with marquee and effects..

Everything from the website graphics to the artwork on my site is done with a regular mouse. I have a tutorial if you're interested.

toot'n my little horn; most of these done under an hour with a mouse. A tablet is not absolutely necessary, but it sure as hell works easier and faster. It WON'T make you a better artist.

I don't have a tablet, all the stuff I do is with a mouse, I know I'm not half as good as the people here but if I can do it self-taught anyone can.

This is the last thing I did with a mouse before the numbness in my fingers convinced me that I ought to start using a tablet for painting:



Mice are great for precice, pixel-by-pixel detailing, but for flowing curves and gestural marks they suck (and they tend to destroy your wrists in short order if you do this kind of thing for a living).

heres the very first thing i ever did. Mouse and mspaint. I used a reference pic and I was very proud of it in the end.
