Cool painting as per Spooge...but the cutlass the main guy is holding blends too much into the background imo

awesome colors and light. I could stare it for hours. ...-glad to see you're on board again. Or maybe it's just me that has been too absent.

Impressive... I have to begin trying to immitate this kinda technique... go for the large spots and give atmoshpere to the painting... tiny details are useless when I put them where they're not needed and I feel I've began my training from the wrong way
I hope that in 100-200 years I'll be able to achieve such a freedom in painting

Great sense of balance. Well, great sense of everything. One of these days I hope to be 1/100th as good as you and then I can die happy.

By the way, thanks for putting up those pages about John Singer Sargent and painting. I return to it every now and then and it seems like everytime I do something makes sense in some way that it didn't previously. I just returned to your site today to see you've been having some hosting problems. Hope things are all sorted out now.

I didn't know you did some work for the FF film. Cool! Can't wait to see it.

Very nice pic Craig... great mood. The main guy seems a little odd, either off balance or having some anatomical problem.

I'm really jealous of your skills at making contrasty scenery work... your sense for values never will cease to amaze me.

Craig, you never cease to amaze me; The style you've developed for these pieces (apparently rapid *sloppy...? if you will?*) strokes that have no real detail that make up an image where the viewer is sucked into it, is truly amazing -- I find myself pouring over an image for hours trying to get the lines crisp and clear, yet you manage to put way more atmosphere, form and feel into a painting than I've ever been able to hope to do...I just wanted to say that I tip my hat to you sir...Your style is truly amazing.

Craig, you are my God

Seriously, though, I've been looking at the stuff on your website for the past year, and
its sooo damn amazing. You have such an incredible knowledge of light and shadow, which gives your pieces a really nice quality. Definately loving your more recent style, loose and sketchy. Now if only I could get to the ability level where I don't feel like setting fire to my paintings, giving up on the whole art thing, and throwing myself from a 12 story building every time I see a new piece of work from you.

That is just too cool for words, so I'm not even gonna try . . .

I know I'm just dreaming, but is there any chance of you doing another step-by-step anytime soon?

He looks a bit out number! But it looks like he has little choice

Another breath taking view, with elements only Spooge could provide.

Good to see the site up and running! Your Pirate pieces are incredible and makes me image what went on during that time.

Thanks for posting it...

cool, it's got a N.C. Wyeth and Howard Pyle feeling to it. Not the style or technique, but it emotes the same feelings.

Shapes and form are the key right. I think this be another primo example. Step back and it's believable, look close and it's a mess...haha, just excellent!

Yeah. It's so amazing.... In general this pic is simple... But those colors makes it master piece... well.. my mortal myself can't say anthing else... Values are so right. It's so funny; I tried to desaturate your gladiator pic and I then saw the brilliance of your work... It works like that almost better like in colors...
