OK, i am really happy with this one concitering it is with a mouse.
The main thing is i don't think it's blurry. I went at it as if i was air brushing in real life using the selection tool to get sharp lines. Well i am always ending up with blurry picture can someone PLEASE tell me what brushes you use in PS6 and what sizes. I think this would help me with the blurriness, thank you so much guy's.

Use the hard-edged, round brushes. You should start out with big, even 100 pixels-in-diameter brushes, and change to smaller when you realize adding detail isn't possible with that big a brush. Finally use the really small ones, 1-10 pixel, to clear the contours and remove other blurry areas.
Using selections can be really helpful as well, recommended especially when using mouse. |

Only because it needs to be done:
the *cough* photo reference *cough* is here for your viewing and comparison.
Odd... there is a strange line cut on the drawing that seems to corresponding with a 'cut' that... *nevermind* |

well, it's definitely NOT a filter work...
and there are a few flaws which become apparent after flipping between pictures back and forth for a while (acdsee)
however judgint between the diffrence in the samson (the first one, not the poser 4 paintover) and this one... I'd say you were painting the copy more by working by the dark and light forms rather than trying tolearn the human form.
other than that, it's a decent picture, but you definitely could improve with a few life drawing excercises ...
if you keep working on original work you should improve quite a bit |

this has got to be the funniest thread i have read so far. im goin to sh*t my pants, lmao. nice try, stneil but i really think you should learn to draw how every other good artist learns, with the eye. tracing is the good artist's taboo. im not trying to be mean, im just helping you get better faster. tracing really only slows down your progress, because inevitably you will have to draw from a reference someday to show your ability, if you wish to pursue art. nice shading though. |

looking at the animation flipping between the two man i see so many mistakes i made. I ussually do so much better when looking at a refurance maybe i did it to fast.
I am not sure why people think something is traced when you happen to have a good eye for looking at a refurance.
Alot of people accuse a few others on here for the same thing. Well i think they are not tracing but they just have a good eye.
Maybe others are jellous i don't know.
But comming up with stuff out of my head man i wish i had some of the talent some of these people had in that. When it comes to drawing what i see in my mind i am not so great at. But i think i will get better.
Enlaya oh man she is so good at creating from her mind.
Thanks for the advice on the brused guys. i did a new samson using that technique go here to see it http://www16.brinkster.com/neil777/1samson.jpg
Thank you everone for the comments, you guys are really helping me alot. |

stneil777; I was very tempted to reply with something grotesquely mean to this thread, but instead I'm going to post some tips for you;
1. Never try and pass paintovers (of any kind) to us as free-handed art. It doesn't work. We've seen it way too many times.
2. As mentioned before, try drawing from your eye -- But instead of using photo reference, I suggest you use life-reference if available. If you have a local community college which offers a class or two on life drawing, I highly suggest you take it. It does wonders for your sense of form, and light & shade.
That said, also pick up a few books; I highly recommend Dynamic Light and Shade, Dynamic Figure Drawing, and Dynamic Anatomy, all by Burne Hogarth. They've helped me alot, and you'll probably benefit from them as well.

ditch the damn mouse already and get a tablet if you're serious.
+ Stick to one, and only one, technique per image. You combine all sorts of methods and it looks just like that, somebody playing with the tools. You might have artistic promise but I haven't seen the other half of the equation from you yet: patience. Settle down!

People are jealous because of you? This is gotta be a joke.
Neil, you're cleary traced this picture. CLEARLY! Stop lying ! Paint over is no fun any more, it teaches you nothing.
As for buying a tablet, I recommend you should use the Intuos 12x18 for the SGI for only $859. Trust me, its worth it, you'll be come an artist instantly!
P.S: Craig Mullins carry this every where with him. |

Hey stneil I know there have been some problems with you and paintovers before and I'm not going to defend you or attack you (even though I know you painted over this!!!). I'll give you some advice either way. Start drawing!! All you need is a pencil and a piece of paper and no photographs. Start with simple stuff and then move onto more complex things like humans. You'll improve gratly and you won't even need photo reference anymore or programs like Poser. Trust me on this! You'll be much better off. |

I don't like to bash or talk shit. If some of you remember I actually defended stencil....in the beginning. However!
Come clean dude. That is a paint over...you traced! No way did you not trace that. You copied that picture into photoshop put a layer over it and just traced...The pictures are the exact same size...why would you do that? I am not talking about the inside but both have the dimensions 250 by 331. This is a dead give away. It would be one thing if you admitted it from the get go. But you flat out deny it when it is so obvious. And then try to cover up by lashing out at people who know the truth. It is not our fault that you are ashamed of the way you make art. We are not stupid on this board but apparently you think we are. We know all the tricks. Come clean. It's your style right now...you trace over poser people in the other pics. That's okay...there is no crime against it...just don't lie to us. You are never going to get respect on this board until you start telling the truth. |

I use a mouse myself so there is no need to blame your mistakes on your mouse.
When I make a mistake it's my fault not the mouse.
As for the pic I will hold my breath.
Although it really does look like an overpaint.
The reason I say this is because of the inconsistancies in your work.
Could you post you sketch? |

On a more serious note stneil938297848 or whatever, you need to sit down, focus on developing basic art skills/fundamentals, and stop focusing on lying attempts. Color tracing is as much practice as wiping colored poo-poo on the bathroom stall. I suck, but I am still practicing everyday, and I dont post all of my sketchpad or paintchat drawings. Try that. Captain Obvious signing off. |

oh man you guys are funny.
I am thinking to do an over paint for you can see the difference between an overpaint and looking at the refurance.
Of course it's the same size as the picture i put the picture on the left and then another window at the same size on the right for i can see each demition for it's true self. For instance if i see the back of his head is 1/2 and inch from the left side then i know on my picture to start his head at the same place.
Takes a little math.
i think i will do a paint over just for you can see the difference it makes ok. |

I'm sorry Neil, no matter how much you try to prove, do you think people are going to believe you?
Stop tracing over stuff, i like your pencil sketches better because its original and i can see that you're getting better at it. |

Seriously, for right now, use life as your reference instead of photos. Practice hard. All of this unpleasantness will eventually go away if you do. |
