oh my god!

thats... more than good
perfect use of markers + touchup, the textures look amazing (maybe only the left-front-gun has a little bit of a plastic-look at the top)

super work

Saw this at teamgt but I'll say again that's pretty sweet! BTW was art center worth the investment? Or could you have learned all the stuff you did at home?

whats wrong with the name hoverbot? i mean, that's what it does, it hovers about and its a robot. i have a habit of giving my designs simplistic names, as opposed to titles like "Nanotronic Neo-Sentient Pro-active Arbiter Device version 3.03"...those bunny ears are active blance sensors, since the CG would be changing around if it were firing or picking up objects with its dinky little claws. anyhow, this was just a one-off drawing, i have no plans to do anything with this design...

Questions for spiney --

I recently bought a set of warm grey prismas and am wondering.. for your coloring, do you lay out a green tone and go over it with darker greens or greys for shadow? How do you highlight?

thanks for the feedback, folks.

nova - as far as coloring, i usually have a few different hues for the base color, i think i used 3 shades of green, then a bunch of grey markers. i think apple green, spring green and olive. for the shadows, it was olive mostly, and some 70-80 percent cool grey. the highlights were milky-gel-rollers, and some white prismacolor pencil. the cool thing about milky gels is that they smudge really well before they dry, so you can soften them with your finger as you highlight. some people hate them and use guache, i used to do that, but its eaiser for me to go with the pens. but yeah, just using one color as the base, then greys for everything else works too. warm greys with warm colors, red, yellow, etc, and cool greys with cool colors, blue, purple, etc. but it all depends on personal preference. also, depending on the paper you use, you can do some cool effects. the following image was done almost entirely with COOL greys on orange photocopy paper, so it turned out brownish.

anyhow, i hope i was of some help...keep on drawing!
