hlid and wayfinder are both *&$%$# idiots!! Personaly I feel there are very few members here talented enough to give enalya useful feedback ..spooge..loki..fred..dahb..joachime..etc...you two clowns however do not qualify so if you dont have something nice to say just dont cause you dont paint as well or better then she does so basically you have nothing useful to say..bottom line. Enalya...I dont listen to people critiques unless I personaly feel they are as good or better painters then me!!.. and I don't think you should either..how can someone give you advice if they cant paint themsleves???... and don't understand what they are talking about? Just my opnion!!

Hmm milkman - I think everyone can critique - as long as it is polite. Hlid was just rude, and that ticks me off. I also immaturely dissed his painting because I was upset ...
Just be nice - especially if people don't know you. In my case, people know that I'm a dick every once in a while, haha ... but hlid, you got 66 posts and therefore people don't really know you ... Oh well ... I always fall for it, don't I?
Sorry for messing up your beautiful thread Enyala - image is fantastic ... I'll be quiet now |

I don't mind crits. I never have. Quite the contrary - I always try to encourage people to give them, it helps me to develop. I made several alterations to this image thanks to criticism - and I think it came out all that much better thanks to it. I didn't think that Hlid was giving me criticism though. Not at all. I sometimes think that a certain kind of art might not "say" anything to me. Like anime and manga art - it's pretty to look at, but it doesn't really get to me on a deeper level. That doesn't mean I'll go tell those artist to change style, because it doesn't suit my tastes.
Never mind, though...that one comment ruined my entire day.
To you others - thank you =)
And Loki - I don't mind... I just hope the thread won't turn into yet another flame. Days like these are the days I seriously consider not posting here anymore - I'm just glad to see not everyone finds my art boring =) |

I agree with you Enayla that when you paint or draw you should enjoy what you do. From what I’ve seen of your work you put your heart into it and I think that this is important.
If you enjoy drawing portraits, as much you obviously seem to do I think you should carry on drawing them.
As for the picture I really like all of the vibrant colours in it and love the detail you put into the mask and dress. |

Let's not cry wolf, people.
The moderators will act when they feel they're needed - not when a group of grownups are having a supposedly mature discussion.
For the record, I've never questioned anyone's right to criticise my work. I've always found criticism very useful, and a good way to develop my work. I can't seem to find any criticism in what Hlid said, however, which was why I was upset. He told me that there is no real point in drawing portraits, without even once wondering if there might just be a reason to /why/ I draw portraits. I'm a roleplayer, you see. Those are my characters. They're part of my stories. If I wanted to draw big warriors with even bigger guns, or perhaps a dragon tumbling around in the sky, I no doubt would. I'm as fascinated by faces and portraits, however, as some people are by mechs, planes, spacecraft, flowers, or whatever it is that they create when they're in a good mood.
My inspiration was questioned. I'm never so inspired as when I sit down to create a character. Words and images pop out of my mind like saplings do in a meadow. I can't see how anyone can tell me to be "inspired" when I'm always inspired, except for a rare few occasions at which point I don't draw at all.
Anyway. With this said, people... please, keep it clean - I don't want flames in my threads. I don't like flames at /all/, and especially not when I put up a picture in hopes of comments and crits that would help me or encourage me. We are grownup, and as such, we should really be acting a bit more mature than this.
Thank you for listening, and for behaving - I don't want to have to take the picture down. |

Great job, once again.
Perhaps this is just me, but the hair at the bottom left looks a little plasticy- perhaps because the highlights are white not a shade of brown like the hair or yellowish brown from the lighting and the hair.
You might want to try that.
EDIT: I forgot to congratulate you on the face that the mask fits on the nose If I remember right that was the only big prob with the last one.
