So, I'm taking a day off, to relax a little bit - what am I doing????
This:
original res: 3k
Of course all in PS, and god how it was fun!
The door for critiques are wide open ... bring your thumbscrews and glowing metalrods ...
Cheers

I'm sorry about not bringing my glowing metal rod...gave it to some dude named Clark Kent...had something to do with a Fortress of Solitude or something...great pict though! I love underwater art...this is a great piece! It's tough to decide whether it's organic or man-made or sometype of organic ship! Very cool. Can't wait to see more! |

WOW, this is beautiful...great creature. One question though, judging from the reflection of the water, is he going diagonally up, because the air bubbles emanating from his mouth are aligned to the picture frame...(or seem to be)? hmm seems a little deceiving... (maybe Ill a fool?!?) |

Loki, this is astoundingly cool. Actually, I was thinking about something similar for a 20,000 leagues pic to replace the Nautilus one on my website.
I always admire the tones you use in your pics and the way you implement your ideas.
Nice work. |

Hey Loki,
I really like this image, I find it quite visually soothing through the use cool colors. The purple glow gets me and the overall organic feel of the creat. great work. |

Thanks guys! Yeah - I'll fix the bubbles ...
Blitz: just started with a blank page in PS, that's it ...
ceenda: thanks - I noticed, sometimes we have a similar flavour in our pics!
sock: WHAT? you were in Santa Monica, and you didn't say hello to a fellow austrian???? how come???
thx!
bg: so long ago since I played ff7 - you mean the one that's superhard to beat? actually, I never beat it ...
Binke: thx!
on a different note:
I noticed that this image too more airbrush work than other ones, to get the soft transitions on the creature. Everything is soft under water - there aren't really any hard shadows, because usually everything gets diffused immeadetly, because of the particles in the water.
I should really get my scanner up and running and post some under water photographs I've taken ... some of them are quite cool IMHO. |

Hey fishy fishy...
now your stranged ships moved under the water hehe . Well the image is nice and crisp as usual. Yeah this creature reminds me one of the spooge's bitmaps. As for the crits... if i'm not totally mistaken, underwater scenes usually have some noise (probably coming from filmgrain), little particles and due to the structure, shapes aren't looks sharp. But i may be wrong.
Keep on painting dude!

I caught a glimpse of this pic last night and I had a dream of it! The squid was chewing on my mom and my sister was going crazy cursing & swearing at it and all the stuff going on. It was a horrible dream.
Excellent pic. I love the organic & mechanic weirdness. Please do more!

Man that completely rocks! It seems like some kinda underwater "living ship" like the spaceship on Farscape, but cooler.
Well done! |

Thanks guys - glad you like my first real creature! : )
There will be a bigger version - or a highres crop (who needs to see a blue gradient highres?), but first I'll rework the image with the input you guys gave me (bubbles, blurrier, etc...).
Thanks again

looks really cool loki. Actually it reminds me a bit of the space alien squid thing that spooge painted for a star trek motion ride or something, originally a sketch from stephan martinieres.....probably because of the lights on its stumach or something. Looks very good |
