Not to be one of those people who floods the board with posts, or anything...I was going to stick this in the faustgfx thread, but it didn't fit. So forgive the second thread of mine.
And a detail:
This image is remarkable for one reason only...I didn't use Undo. Not once. I hate that function. |

Y'know Socar, I'll always love your rat pictures the most =) But then I'm a fan of rats just like you are (well, I like cats even more, but you get the point).
This picture has those wonderful soft colours in it that you so often use with your rat pictures - and it makes me wonder if part of my fascination with those pictures has to do with the colours =)
Well, anyway, if you hadn't figured it out already - I really like this picture. I have one little wee thing to criticise though.... the soft, fine, half transparent cloth-thingies (well, decorations at any rate - I had to get up at 7:30, I can't find the right words today =P) look a bit lumpy. The edges just seem rather sharp and odd looking, not at all as soft and nice as the rest of the picture. This is a really minor gripe, but I thought I'd point it out.
If you can't understand what I'm rambling on about... I'll try to explain more clearly later =)
(Edit) Man, I just had to get up way too early. Spelling.

That's soooooooo sad Socar!
Makes me feel uncomfortable. Well, transmitting feelings by painting is something I'll never achieve. Congrats. |

You hate Undo? My left hand fingers set themselves automatically to the keys 'Control', 'Z', 'S','F' and 'Space' every time I place them on the keyboard proximity... 's like they had mind of their own.
About this picture, it looks nice (as always) but the tail is disturbing me. And the idea of a rat saddled for carrying a rider in which case the rat must be huge or the rider must be a tiny bipedal creature.
I like the colours. |

Ouchie!
I know I'm not supposed to laugh at something so sad... but this picture has me giggling all the same, sad though it is.
Enayla's spot on; I love the light, pale colours you use, they give everything such a lovely ethereal feel. I've been meaning to try something similar out, but I always seem to get get carried away with strong colours, or at least, dark ones. I doubt I'd do it anywhere near as well as you, anyway! |

Thanks for the comments, people....
Enayla--Thank you. Not that I don't appreciate everyone's crits & comments, but the ones from people I actually know always mean a lot. You're right about the cloth. I got a little bit lazy, there, since I added it right at the end. I'll see if I can't un-lump it a little.
tayete--I'm sorry it made you uncomfortable...but I'm flattered that it made you feel something.
Staff Sarge--I've been wondering for ages why my digital art is never as good as my traditional art. And I've decided it's all in the mistakes. I get more interesting textures when I leave 'em in and just paint over them, but not all the way.
I'm not sure I understand about the tail. Maybe if I went back & rendered it a bit more sharply...Or is it rat-tails in general you don't like? I know lots of people who hate their tails.
Oh, and it's a huge rat, not a tiny person. That's why it's so fat. It's supposed to be an extra-big, extra strong rat bred for riding and pack-carrying. The Clydesdale pony of the rat world.
Blitz--I got cruelly backstabbed by a horrible woman at work last week. My boss and I had a HUGE blowout as a result...but we figured out what was going on, and the awful woman got fired, instead of me...the backstab backfired...heh.... That's what's with the weapon in the back theme, though.
SlightlyTwisted--It's probably the slogan. It made me snicker a bit, too, even though the picture itself ain't that funny.
trudel--Thanks! |

Akolyte--What? Bible? What does this picture have to do with the Bible, and why are you being so rude? |

Socar: apparently Akolyte is making reference to stneil777 for some odd reason... don't ask me.. I dunno...
In any case, great piece... looks painful, but great nonetheless. |

LOL!!! When I first read the title of this thread I thought "SOCAR"...and imagine my surprise when I turned my head ever so slightly to the right and read your name
That rat seems so sad, his eyes (I think) portray a sense of lonelyness...What can I say, I feel a bit depressed (partially because I just woke up though)...I love it! |

feel free to flood the board with separate posts if you are going to post good pics like this one! (i would have missed it in the other thread cos i hardly ever look twice... don't have time!) it's got so many interesting points, the main one being the story... i don't know if you are refering to some common betrayal story or one you just made up... but it makes me wonder how or why s/he ended up with a lance in their back... and a rat rider! very intriguing... and te poster type composition is interesting too. |
