I was in English, I started skething and somebody next to my started doing this puzzle next to me, I was quite intrested, he explained it to me and I ended up trying to do the puzzle during the whole lesson, in the end I couldn't do it, thought u guys would be able to work it out !!!!
Right:..
You have 3 power stations [P] and 3 houses [H], each power station(that means 1 powerstation), must power the 3 house (you draw lines to them, [b] These lines must not cross each other thats the PUZZLE[b]), so all together u should have 9 lines... I've included a picture ^, post your puzzle if you work it out
Good Bloody Luck !!! |

Impossible.
Put one of the power stations on the south side and you'll see it right away when you draw the lines; house #2 is always boxed out from the station #2's reach. [edit: see also the setting number 2]
It makes no difference if you draw lines more longer and complicated routes or locate houses differently, the basic setting will always be like this when simplified.
[edit: added the other possible setting to be complete]

sorry :P
Belive me or don't I didn't knew this puzzle.
I have another one.
You have six matches:
Try build four triangles. ( without breaking the matches of course )
Its easy if you've seen "contact" |

I did the match thing 2 ways... only one is the "right" answer to the riddle I think though... I dunno, maybe neither are but they both work. I could prolly come up with others
[edit: The one on the left works two ways... as a flat object and as a 3D object. I have it illustrated as flat, but if you stand the toothpicks up to form a pyramid you have 4 faces. The 3 sides and the bottom which are all triangles. ]

Scourvensen, still, there's no 2d-solution to the power line prob. Not even if you put them on a sphere trying to draw the lines 'around the world'. And note how the vertexes and lines are drawn to both sides of the paper on the moebius thingy.
Jezebel's 3d-solution to the match problem is correct BTW (I love the pastel colours!). |

But the moebius strip is a 2d surface, that's the beuty of it. It's a 2d object that exists in 3d space. You say 'drawn on both sides' but a moebius strip only has one side.
personally i think it's a very clever solution

You asked for it:
Here you see the true 2d-face of Moebius, behold! It does look like this if you track it making a full loop along "both sides". Maybe it is a clever "solution" but obviously it's not valid because of the extra houses & stations.
The original moebius solution with 3 houses & stations makes a twist in 3d-space. You see, try to imagine how it would look like if the lines & objects were drawn on transparent film, like teachers use with projectors in school classes. A-ha! You got it! Soooo.... If it was OK to use the third dimension (it was not specifically restricted in the rules) this would be ridiculously easy problem.
(..hopefully even someone has a clue what I'm talking about, English isn't my native language..)

In Scourvensen's middle diagram he has the strip of paper twisted, revealing the other side as having extra houses, but they shouldn't be there. on a single opaque piece of paper, you can draw the 3 houses and 3 powerstations, and 9 lines, which, when twisted into a moebius strip will give you the solution. And it's not really a 3d solution, as it's still drawn as continuous lines on a single 2 dimensional surface. |

Hell yes it's 3d, thus not valid!
Can you project the mobeus solution on 2d surface, for example the monitor, without the lines crossing each other? NO you can't!
(I'm sorry if I sound angry, I'm not.. I'm very calm... I'm calm... *turns away and bites his fist*) |

well....if you use grade nine science...you can make a circuit out of the whole situation. This means that there will only be 6 lines but it would still work if you know how electiricity is transfered.

Jezebel: The right solution is the 3d object..., the matches have the same lenght so the only one solution is move this riddle to the third dimension.
Staff Sarge: All the lines are on the one, the same surface, i didn't use 3d to draw one line under or above others, it is still one surface..... O.K. , O.K., it was a little cheat
