A picture of a knight returning to his home (laundry still not finished). I really like the colors in this one, much more variation than I am usually comfortable with.

Beautiful & dreamy...the expression on the face is perfect, as is the background. The flapping laundry really gives it a feeling of...I don't know...realness... I'm right tired, so this is probably going to be one of those useless comments. But I just wanted to compliment you on the nice colours on his armor, the warm background, and his facial expression. Great cartoon. |

people? a flower in his hand? falling rose petals? I know it lacks some mystery element, I was just trying to decide what. |

Wow, great picture!
People around him would be cool. Some girls whispering and giggleing and a small man hiding his face in a hood. Like an envious knight. Or an assasin.
But I guess all of the above is too much cliche. |

It's gorgeous, Isric.
I don't really think it actually /needs/ anything - I think it's very beautiful as it is.
If I'd add something, it'd be some petals blowing in from the open window, heh, or maybe stains of blood on the curtains ;) I don't know... I still don't think you need to add anything. |

Hi Isric.
Nice pic, I especially like the metalic effect on the armour and the effect on the curtains.
I guess the only thing that comes to mind is that there is a bright, warm light coming into the room and illuminating it, though this same light does not appear to be affecting the background in any way. Obviously, a cloud could be over it, but I think that the background seems a bit dull when compared to the interior.
Your pics rock. |

I love your colors also!!!! How about going one step more....and making the "shadows" under his chin, etc.. a deep purple or blue or even plum!?! Also, try making the lighting on "one side" of his face in blue or red and the opposite side, plum or purple!
Try it! You will be surprised by the finished art. I look forward to your next post! |

I find myself struggling for descriptive praise recently. I keep using 'really' and 'nice' etc. Is it just me? What do i really mean? (see) does anyone care?
There has been alot of armour kicking around recently. When it is kicked it goes *clang* |

Nice colors Isric. Personally I'd like to see a high heeled slipper flying at him from top right-add that comedic nature to his grin. |

wow, the colors are great in this one. I also like the character design. I think your right it does need something. One thing I noticed is he's looking of the page which kinda upsets the composition. If you moved him to the left more it might balance it out more. |

That is pretty terrific. I would agree with the agent that his looking off page makes me wonder what's going on. Or it sort of strikes me as a frame from an animation or something.
Nice work! |

I agree, excellent use of color. The neck does look a bit long, though. |

I think your picture is very stable as far as structure. Everything is very solid and it is in a believable space. The head and body are also very strong and show alot of character. This is all very cool and I have noticed that in a lot of your work. My crits are that you have two or three styles clashing in the pic. One is the figure, which is outlined and colored with a medium degree of detail, the midground or room that is bold, solid, with no outline, and lastly the far background with medium detail and darker cooler colors. So what you end up with is in order from closest to far is medium dark colors, bright colors, then back to dark. This also gives the picture a strange look. So, I would recommend if I were painting this to outline the inside features of the room, not with black but just to add a more lined look. In the far background I would make the colors warmer and bolder, bolder meaning sections of just color, almost no detail. As for the room and character I would make him a little bit cooler in the face by adding blues and such and the room I would add more cool shadows. This will give the picture more depth. As for the composition, I think you have a lot of nice diagonals moving up to the top right and the left sheet brings your eye down to the left and back to the arm. This is very good but you are leaving the center of intrest, the face, out of the loop. The viewer goes right past it. You could fix this by moving the hand so it points more toward the face or rotate the forearm toward the viewer so that the fingers point toward the face. I know I have really torn apart your picture here and I know it wasn't supposed to be a masterpiece, but I only did it because I liked it and I looked at it for a while. Sorry I wrote so much. |
