There is always something magical in your pics and I really like it!
Yep, I like the skin tones also. I'm really wondering how you do that skin. Doesn't have even plastic look in it. If I want to be superhypermultimegadork critical I would say that you should make the neck area more feminine (thinner). But it's OK like you have made it.
Keep up good work! |

Very nice work here, I think you somehow keep managing to improve your already very high quality of work.
I agree with the people that say the texture on the skin works really nice.
I'd guess you used an image overlay to add the texture? |

- brilliant! The eyes and the lighting and the soft tones,
That armour idea is one I hold close to my heart also...

Wow.
I haven't said anything on this forum yet but this pic was so good it brought me out of hiding. Everytime I think im starting to get the hang of this whole "art" thing, I see something like this and I have to start all over again. Incredible. |

very cool. I love the textured skin. The imperfections are what give it so much more life than the usual digital stuff.

FOrgive me for the bump, but I don't know how I missed this. I love your style, and the story behind it is amazing as well. The hand is one of the most perfect hands I've seen in a while, but the neclace (?) in the hand looks wrong to me somehow. Should it be that bright? I'm not sure, but it seems not to match the rest of the picture and sticks out too much. GREAT WORK!
Greg!

Heeeere we go. I've been waiting to answer this post for SO long - since I went out of town first, and when I came back, the forums were gone! *sob*
I'll just go ahead and answer what's been said after my last comment. :)
blynde: Thank you ...
Axl: It's my goal to keep improving, so I'm glad you think I am =) A lot of my friends have told me that the armour is similar of the Witchblade one, and that's probably true. Nothing I thought of while working on the picture though... As for a full length piece... *cough* Trust me, you don't want to see that - I'm not good with drawing armour. Anyone who feels inclined to give it a shot - feel free ;D
Visigoth: *blush* That's one of the sweetest things anyone's said :D
Tepox: I'm keeping the skin secret ;) Thank you, though =)
Kreuze: That might be part of the trick =)
PlantMan: Thankee!
Brainswitch: I'm sure you're getting the hang of the art thing =) I also think that all of us feel like that from time to time - I'm sometimes blown away by pictures in this forum!
kohse: Thank you :) I'm working on perfecting my own style and it's all fun work.
NeoFun: You're probably right about the necklace... makes me wish I had more space on my hd, so I wouldn't have had to flatten the entire picture when it was done =.(
marc_taro: *Chuckle* Thanks. I also think the lengths of our thumbs might wary from person to person =)
Loki : Oh man Loki, is that coming from /you/?? I'd cut my toes off to be able to draw scenery like you do! |

this is very nice. doesnt seem that many has anything to crit about this image so I though on having a go on my thoughts...
there are obviously people who liked the hand, but the hand to me is the most disturbing thing about this image. because it feels way too thick, as an elf Id think he would have more tender/thin fingers, my guess is its his point finger that is too thick in comparison to his other fingers, giving the impression of a lumberjack hand or something like that. and his middle finger (dunno what its called, the longest one) looks bit too flat ya know?
then there are some anatomy issues, not sure how much an elf differs in face anatomy from a human, but I feel his eyes are too far up, making the gap between the eyes and mouth bit too big, and the forehead bit too small.
his right eyebrow feels like its pointing straight to the the left in the image, shouldnt it perhaps follow his forehead a bit, making it slightly more curvy? because right now its almost as it leaves the forehead and sticks out.
and last, the upper lip look bit too flat also, and maybe bit too big as well? right now it seems to be almost or equally big to his lower lip, which isnt at least human facial features...
and I miss some shadows for his necklace in the thumb area, to give it a more 3d feeling to it...
overall its very impressive work, but I bet you already got that from all the other 37 or so posts. keep it up. |

DARYL: On the hand... I think you might be right. I doubt I'll go back to changing it since this was just a character portrait - and it was a couple of weeks ago that I made it. I can rarely get the inspiration to go back and fix it.
I don't agree on neither eye nor mouth crits though. When it comes to lips, people can have a multitude of different sizes - hell, my bottom and top lips are about the same fullness, and I know people who have fuller top lips than their bottom ones. Err, that sounded odd - but what I'm trying to say is that it varies. Anatomy. You know it does, don't you?
I sometimes feel like some of the crits people give on faces are crits that will turn the faces into looking like it's just the same person with different hair colours all over and over again. I appreciate the crits, but I'm not changing his face. I very much like him like he is =)
As for the eyebrow... maybe it should have been /slightly/ curved, but he really doesn't have eyebrows that arch - his stretch upwards towards the temple in a very straight line. What can I say? He's not human. |
