He was very young when he, and his friends, sneaked into a dead dragon's cave during the night, and robbed the by now rotting creature of some of its treasures. He fell in love with the armour almost immediately when he saw it - it glittered softly, darkly, in the light... and it was so beautiful it took his breath away. A thief, he decided to put it on underneath his clothes, and pretend to his friends that he hadn't found it at all. Of course, he didn't know then that it wasn't just ordinary metal. He found out that very quickly, though, as the metal became organic and sank into his skin.

It was cursed with the soul of a demoness, a sentient armour that had its own will, and that would protect him in battle... but it also kept him at a distance from those he might fall in love with, refusing to let him even have his first kiss - since he was very young when he found it - by simply covering his mouth, or nearly choking him.

The demoness, you see (he did not even know about her since she could not communicate with him), had fallen in love with him... and as she was insanely jealous, she would never let him touch someone ever again.

This said, I want you all to realise that this is another of my character portraits... which is why it is just that - a portrait. I thought I'd share it with you all.

Wow. This is beautiful Enayla. Thanks for including the story with the image. I want to see your imagery brought to the silver screen. I would love to see a film based on what you've described.

Beautiful eyes, beautiful hair, beautiful skin, beautiful ear(s)...the only thing I don't like is...damn...hang on...I will think of something...hmm...nope...can't think of anything I don't like about it

And I also like the way you give your males female features.

So, for short - I love it!

It must be my new ATi RADEON because all the pictures look so freaking crisp and in perfect colours. This picture, for example, just blows me away.

I was going to say something about the eyebrows but hey, I'm not an expert on elves' anatomy.

Hmm... that face reminds me of someone I've seen...

Beautiful.

Great story behind it. On a side note, that story just sprang to mind an adventure for the next time my friends force me to DM

Oh wow! I love this pic! How you did the skin... it is a mystery to me. Don't tell us though! It must remain one of your distinguishing artistic traits.

The quality of his skin... it looks real at first, but it has the earlier airbrushed and smooth feelings still hidden underneath the texture and the splotches on his hand. It's a very surreal quality and I like it.

The story is also very good. If I had people around me who could think of many such cool ideas, I'd actually play D&D.

Keep trying new stuff like this! Yay!

holy awesomeness! now this I really can't complain about. mixing realism with your own style at the same time, lots of little details, just gorgeous! you seem to make such huge strides with every piece you do, even when we think there's not much else you can improve upon

I agree with travis travis, and everyone else. There is a lot of very sensitive work in there, a lot of delicacy, but the best in graphic sense has not been lost from your earlier work. kewl!

Whhhaaaaoooow... this is a great portrait. (I don't bother commenting in your threads cos this is all I can usually articulate, but I just had to for this one!)

It would be great if you could do an illustrative scene with this character, maybe from the thighs up to show more of that cool armour, illustrating something in the story you typed up.

Excellent, keep up that pace too love seeing new pics from you. What happened to the website thing? Have you got a single site I can send friends to?

Very nice. But two crits. First (and this is a minor one), the bit where his hair meets his forehead looks a bit fake - like he's wearing a wig. You should probably see a little more of his scalp through his hair, at least in the front-center anyway.

The other thing is that everything below his neck looks really flat, and his shoulders seem to be at an odd angle. You may want to expand your canvas a little bit and quickly sketch some more of his body (just to see how it fits in), improve the "flatness", then crop the pic back down to this resolution.

Otherwise, beautiful details, as always.

Wow, lots of replies =)

I'm a bit in a hurry right now because I'm packing things and getting ready to leave, but I just thought I'd say that I really appreciate both crits and compliments. Thanks everyone!

(Edit) AprilYSH: Right now, my website is under construction (very much so actually)... I'll be sure to tell you when it's done (until further notice, there's always: Lots of pictures if they can stand elfwood)

Nice story Enayla, enjoyed reading it.
As to the art, I think you're getting better and better with each piece. Great amount of detail present and the eyes are really good, the armour reminds me a little of Witchblade. I wouldn't mind seeing a full length piece to show the armour off and what it did to him.

I checked out the link you posted Enayla; All I've got to say, is you are one of my favorite artists; Few people make it on that list... Olivia...Carvaggio...Nagel... You equal, if not surpass them in many aspects...Your use of color is truly astounding and is to be commended... Keep up the good work.
