the first one i really like, but i would suggest fading out the mountains out in the distance because they look too close for reality. maybe a little touching up of any details in the foreground, but i like it.

on the first, i think that your strength is the water, mountains and cool faded moon thing. the rendering on the guy looks rougher than his surroundings. just a thought.

i like the second one. the sword is the only part that bugs me. i understand what's happening, but it's not working too well. the shadow it casts on her leg probably shouldn't be that big.

keep it up. i'm learning too. it's all about knowing form and how light works. this forum is a good place to develop that.

peace

I like the first pic the most..

The char does need a little more finishing, and like somebody said the mountains need a bit of fading. It is pretty good pic. Maybe try a different composition next time, something more dynamic or less 'centered' and at eye level. so try a different angele maybe.. make sure you post your update, we would love to see it.

Oh yeah, and in the second pic you need to adjust the breast a little, they look stuck on and not connected to the upper chest.. see what I mean?? just blend them in a bit with the upper chest, and dont worry about expressing their 'volume' quite so much.

Yeah the second pic is super bland, and its funny how much time i spent on it compared to the 20-30 mins on the first one. But I guess it has nothing to do with time, and its all about the lighting. blah. i gota learn more. Yeah once finals are over i'll get into super drawing mode.

Well here is an updated image of the elf. I faded out the mountains a bit and sharpened him up though he could still use a lot of work, but I think it looks a lot better thanks!!

Looks pretty good. Let me know if I'm too critical-I know not everyone wants to be picked to death. That said....You might want to define your big shapes a little more, especially on the characters, before noodling it to death. The noodles give it some detail, but on the whole(talking the first pic now)the figure doesn't have enough solidity yet. It's very midtone right now, so maybe add some more lights and darks.
In the second pic, her hips are too thin(not talking taste now, I'm talking basic anatomy). Also, her face is somewhat squished down too far on her head. Her shoulder is sticking off her body like it's not connected. If you want I'll do a couple quick paint/draw overs later on. Let me know if that's something you'd like.

Well anthony is you got time man, it would be nice if you could point out to me how exactly i would highlight the picture of the sun and mountains. I'm not actually too concerned with the second pic, t was quite a rought anyway. But thanks. And if it looks so much like the final fantasy 7 cover...for craps sake i'll change his sword since that is what everyone is refering too

hope its not to late for comments...anyhow i really like the elf pic but the sky was to bright.

so i changed that by just selecting everything around the guy except what he was standing and turned the saturation down by 50% and this is how it turned out. looks perfect now i'd say:

see that the sky now has the same "tones" as the rest of the image?

HI.

your 2nd girly needs a shorter neck =]

also.. her boobs would only do that (push up like that) if they were higher on her chest.
(unless she had some wierd saggy disorder) hehe

and...... her forehead is as long as the rest of her face. (might want to shorten that too unless its your style yo)

ps. kill me if im dissing you. word. and i like the first pic.

I saw this a couple of days ago and it DID remind me of Cloud right away, although I never thought you were trying to copy FF7 in anyway, and I still think that despite the ressemblance, it is pretty original.

The problem with FF7 is that everytime someone draw a guy or girl with a big sword everybody thinks of Cloud.

Repulse - that's a nice look you did with the picture for sure. Then again, i wonder if skies must have the same tone as the rest of ones pic just because skies are awefully odd sometimes, but thats just an excuse for me. I really like what you did actually, it looks like it makes a lot more sense.

Theresa - Yeah, hehe..my girl pic is well...just plain shitty. I think if i have time after finals to redo it so its cool!

FFnex - you know the first time i saw such a big sword was in final fantasy 7. I've never seen swords that big before so i always draw my swords incredibly big, so its true to say that the sword has final fantasy roots. But yeah i know what you mean.
