I loved that cartoon, one of my favorites. And you certainly do it justice with this painting.
Great work!

btw. I love your style. Don't change it because some people think it's too "smooth"

Very nice Enyala! Maybe if you bump up the brightness of the moon a bit, you get a better feeling of light coming from it.

But maybe that's not what you want.
I love Jack Skellington and this image!

toast!: Well, I'm glad you like the picture =)

MrPumpernickel: Heheh, it's "throw him in a box"... But you're right, it's a very good movie ;D

JOYSUKE:

PlantMan: Heheh, watch the movie some twenty times more, and you'll see... you'll remember /all/ the quotes!

G_Luder: Hmm, yeah, you're probably right - he /does/ have bigger hands. Thanks for pointing it out to me - I /would/ probably have changed it but I fear I have no version of the image without the hands flattened against the background layer now

catnip: Thank you, though this is most likely more Mr. Burton's style than it is mine.

sirstudlymodugal: Heheh, no, I'm not a professional. I paint for fun, and for fun alone... Thank you =D

zenonithus: I'm glad you do. While I was painting them, I wasn't too sure how they'd work out - I was afraid they'd take the focus off Jack. I think it worked, though.

Sedul: Photoshop 5.0 for this one... and all /kinds/ of brushes. Mostly soft ones to begin with, and then other brushes as I sharpened the picture's details. The picture started out in a rather decent size - it was about 3000 pixels high... but then I added and added to its size (as the "branch" thing that Jack sits on was stretched out to accommodate Zero) so that I think it's about 5000 pixels high right now, at 300dpi.

EviLToYLeT: Heh, I think Grim Fandango was very much inspired by Tim Burton actually =)

Jaku: I'm glad you do!

Visigoth: Waaah, I want the special edition as well! *cries big, unhappy tears* (Thank you, by the way. I added the bats as an afterthought, but I rather much like them now )

stneil777: Well, ah... look at the response I gave someone else a bit higher up. It's difficult to tell exactly what brush pressure I use since I change it all the time.

Zorglub: Thank you =D

Loki: *Beams* Jack Skellington rules! I think you have a point with the moon's brightness. I'll see what I can do about it (in other words - I'll try adding some light and see how it works... if it doesn't, I'll keep it like this).

:-) Hi Enayla,

I was sure it wasn't a Disney DVD cover. My point to Allen Tyson was that it could have been. Why? Because a lot of professional artist have copyrighted images in thier portfolios. I do. I've been asked to do characters like the Power Puff Girls, Winnie the Pooh etc.

I don't know if you are or if you aren't a professional illustrator (personally I hope you ARE NOT because if you are then it's just one more very talented person I have to compete with :-). ) If you aren't and you were to become one this would be a great portfolio piece, it shows that you can do other peoples characters.

Nevertheless, I think you are very talented, and it's always a pleasure.(And truthfully, I didn't like how Mr. Tyson was characterising one of my favorite posters. It pissed me off a bit.)

sir

coolie. I just watched that 'ol classic the other day. (which is weird cause I don't watch it that much, stop motion bugs me) but it is a great movie, and this is a nicely representative pic, although the expression doesn't quite gel - what's he sad about?

I like it a whole bunch! For some reason I especially love the little pin stripes on his suit

You know what's weird? I haven't seen that movie since it came out in theaters. I hardly remember it... but I think I'm going to go rent it now!

(oh and on a side note, I asked jussi to send you this really yummy vegetarian hot and sour soup recipe of mine... did you get it?? )

TheMilkMan: Heeh, thanks! But there's no such thing as "too good"... I'm aiming to get better and better =)

Magpie: Thank you

travis travis: Well, I was actually listening to one of the less happy songs from the movie. Watch it again and think carefully - Jack is everything but happy in the beginning of the movie. Shall I quote him?

"But who here would ever understand
That the Pumpkin King with his skeleton grin
Would tire of his crown, if they only understood
He'd give it all up if he only could"

Jezebel: Thank you Jezebel You should really watch it a second time! It's better and better for every time you watch it! (Oh, and no... no, I didn't get it, not I can remember...)

faustgfx: *wants that recipe... now.*

DiXter: What can I say, I work fast Thank you.
