sacrelicious- I totally remember that book. I remember flipping through that book in preschool, I couldn't even read but I loved the pictures. That was the last time I saw it, until you mentioned the name and I put it into a search engine and brought up some webpages on it.

Love it!
Great color, nice line... lots of fun.
Only crit I have is that it would have been nice to see paths used for the cables instead of freehand, it suits the style a bit better (Streamlined design and all that)
Also, the back leg could have been a tad darker...
I love the helmet

Tres Cool! I love stuff with the 50's and 60's futuristic feel to it! Wow! Can't wait to see more. Nice choice of colors...though the piece would look sweet on a black T-shirt without the background!

Raygun Gothic? never heard that before. Cool.
Jason- I color them by using the tedious process of selecting and filling. If there's a better way out there please let me know.
canistr- Actually, I have a poster of me. Just send $4.99, and a self adressed envelope to my address and you'll get a monthly Agent 44 update magazine, 8x10 photo and an agent 44 fan club membership certificate.
just kidding. I really like the flash stuff you've been doing.

wow, thank you for your thoughts everyone.
Red Leader- I thought that paths would be good to, but sometimes I think it would make it looked too polished, you know what I mean? I like the feel of a picture when you can tell a hand touched it. It makes it a little more personal.
Vortx- wow, what a compliment. I'm a big fan of yours.
Spooky-I thought a t-shirt would be cool, too

'44,
you may know about this and not use it, but i thought i would offer you an alternative to "select and fill" on line colorings. if you keep your lineart in a seperate layer (assuming your useing PS5 or higher) you can just hit the "preserve transparency" block when active in your lineart layer, then selecting the color you want, paint the line with a hardbrush...i have played with this a little and so far had fun with it. i don't know all the ins and outs on it though...hope that might help!
peace,

Man, that is so damn cool!
A perfect marriage of retro style and color palette and modern coloring techniques.
Very marketable.

I love this pic, as much as the ones in your "agent" series! Clean, beautiful and dynamic!
Past slobbering compliments and drool... there is only only thing that irks me:
The hosing that passes on the left side of her helmet... the hand-drawn nature of it leaves it "crimped" and of a different thickness compared to the rest of the hose. I would suggest vector curves as a guide to drawing the hose, using Photoshop's pen tool or something in Adobe Illustrator (or even Microsoft Word :P )
I just think it'd look nicer if the hose had more uniform thickness... though if it varied by 1 pixel in diameter in some places, that'd look cool, as well as all of the folds and other cool lines adorning the current hose.
Just me being picky Again, nice one! |

cptoonz- didn't think of that, good idea I'll experiment with it.
Sergenth- I acknowledge your thoughts, and will give it a try. However I don't want it to have a untouched computer feel, I like it to look as if a hand has touched it.

Agent...I like the hand drawn feel too, but even traditional artists use french curves.
Why not stroke the curve, and then manually adjust the line weight? you can still throw in all of the nifty little wrinkles and such. Curves would add sweeping motion to the drawing.
I wouldn't touch the lines on the helmet though. It looks like hand blown glass, or like some kind of membrane. Cool. |
