Just dropping by to celebrate 50th painting. I'm finding it hard to use really dark values, either they don't exist in my lighting conditions or I just can't place em right. Same goes with saturated colors. As a result my pics seem to look foggy and washed out. I think.

spooge: wooha. I intend to keep you behind in the count :). 10% done, although this hopefully develops into a habit. Seeing your take on the subjects after we've given em a try is going to help a lot. Thanks in advance.
I haven't seen you paint many of these subjects, so it's fresh too. Animals especially!
Joach: I agree with the use of reference you mentioned, I did the exact thing with the underwater topic. The mountains are stunning, try to find some time for these paintings! :)
Would be really convenient if everybody set up separate directory for these, so not every pic has to be posted individually. and updates are easy to check.
snake: More! Do use reference, altavista imagesearch always gives something.
s4sb: keep away from the small brushes :]
Janne: MORE!

I'm doing my part to keep this thread going...
Each of these is a result of 40 minutes of work. Too much inept fumbling on my part, I'll leave doing lots of these to those with more time and talent
Wine Glass with Weird Creature:
Knight fighting Dragon (old sketch):
hmm... no Lesbians with mullets yet

I don't think there's even a remote chance of me getting all 500 done, but it's a good exercise so I've been doing one now and again. Thought I'd post what (few) I've done;
Fair amount of John Harris influence in that lot (esp. the sun), plus some Loki'isms I've been wanting to have a go at.

This is a great idea! It remids me of quick gesture drawings, only with more of a scene.
Here's mine - I'm gonna try and do 2-3/day (gives me something to do over coffee.)
April 12- oh well, so much for 2-3/day. Here's my latest.
20min
15 min each

Three more;
This project is proving to be more than a little frustrating. I just can't get the "looks" I'm aiming to get with these quick sketches.
(maybe by the time I get to 500 I'll be getting it right!)

Spent a bit more time on that one. Was disappointed with the red car (008) and wanted to RnD that sort of thing a bit more.

kig: let's not grow tired of being an independent nation just yet. besides, every single one of today's computer-grown children deserves to go through army & the vast amount of excersice that comes with it.
91 paintings and counting. http://members.surfeu.fi/pveik/500

mwahahaha, you'll never get out of the army Gecko >:]
There are nice graphic designer community service jobs, I'd look into that if I were you. 12 months of work experience is so much better than slacking at the big summer/winter camp that is army. |

Suma: Impressive! Really.
JManley: I think there is no rule to it, aside from doing them quickly, getting stuff down rapidly, an excercise in getting blocking optimal in those respects I suppose.

for all of you going for 500 paintings, just make sure your hand/forearm/arm falls off from all the work!
oh btw, joachim, your landscape paintings looks like something bob ross (guy on some local channel here in the bay area that would do landscape paintings in 30 mins <-- good stuff) would do. cool. |

Everyone: Keep painting and posting your 500 paintings-projects pics, I love 'em.
(clicked on Klaivu's directory and there are some really great ones in there, thought I'd point out that one specifically because none are in the thread and I missed them last time)
Heh, reviving this thread from the second page, because it's cool, and although my pictures weren't themed for it, I don't want to make a new thread for my doodles. I'll leave making new threads to Neil777
These I actually finished in 15-20 minutes each, so I'm proud of myself doing something kinda quick timewise at least
They were done in photoshop, and I did lay out colors for the pallete, and create all the custom brushes I used before hand.

And still no paintings of lesbians with mullets, A. Buttle might start feeling ignored
