hi. this is what came out as the 1st digital painting of mine... hope its ok. since I didnt get that much feedback from an in progress pic I posted a while back I didnt really know what to fix or do with the picture, so I thought making a background would be a waste of time if would do the same errors through the whole pic . anyways, please give me some feedback, you guys is my only hope to evolve as a 2d artist
here it is:
thanks a lot.

Daryl, lovely image. My only real critque is the two large ear like structures coming which seem to be coming out of the head. Its hard to tell if they are part of the figure, or another object/part of story. The tear is very nice.

thanks for your posts guys.
neil: yeah the left eye is missing...
crossbow: I suppose you mean the tubes? anyways, I guess they are pretty vague about their purpose, might have been easier to make out with a background. anyways, thanks!
how come I only get 2 posts? I mean, if there is something with the picture that makes people avoid posting any comments, make a post about that then!
I keep seeing all other posts getting lots of replies, so I'm kinda wondering why I'm left out
regards,

Looks good... I like the organic look you have going here.
I also like the shadow work on the cables.
However, since you have a certain level of realism in the drawing, you need to be careful with the anatomy, even if it's fantasy. I think that right eye comes just a bit too close to the side of the face. Also, watch the angle of the tear... it's not really following the contours of the head, and does not appear to have come from the eye. (although it's nicely rendered.)

things you might want to look at...
1. the nose is completly straight, even if your exaggerating anatomy this shouldnt be so.
2.since you are exaggerating, i won't say anything about the cheeks, although i think you should put a little of the jaw bone behind them or something
3.the lips don't look like they are completey shaped correctly.
4.the little thingy(i forget what its called) above the lip is off center.
5.the chin is looking a little flat
im not trying to rip down your image, just help you out with some things i noticed. i think its a good start. |

thanks a ton for all your comments people, I really appreciate that.
geelimp: its supposed to be some kind of tube though, but thanks!
red leader: thanks. and yeah, the eye might be bit too far out, its hard to draw a line between what kind of anatomy that could exist and yet be appealing or bought by the viewer.
about the tear, I hear ya on that one as well.. should have been more curved. also I tried making some really thin layer of eye water (?) along his face, as if a tear already went down. but that was really hard...
edible snowman: thanks for everything you noticed. about the nose, I guess it could be more curvy. at the same time I might look for a stylistic appearance. or maybe I was just not thinking that far
and yeah, that 'over the lip thingy' is off center... about the chin, can really see that its bit flat, but I guess I've gone blind on this one.. the jaw bone and the lips might be a matter of taste, I cant say I was going for a totally human kind of lips, they are pretty violet colored , but I suppose I shouldnt go too far with every feature on a head when it might be less believable as another race...
thanks again for everything, this makes me feel I'm learning something!
