This was done in Photoshop. But I have recently been playing with Painter 6.0, my oh, oh my, it's very versatile. I used to have an old version of 4.0 it wasn't nearly as nice. Textures are amazing. What is everyone's preference? And does anyone know are layers used in Painter just like Photoshop?

Painter does use layers (called "floaters") that are not quite as flexible as Photoshop's (at least, not in Painter 5.5), but since it can read and write PSD format you can leave the layer manipulation to Photoshop.
I don't much like the Painter interface, but the effects you can get with its brushes (esp. watercolor) are very nice, and hard to duplicate in Photoshop. I use both.
