I've done some surreal stuff in the past and this is my latest "work":
One thing is for sure though, I'm no Dali |

what 3d program did you use? if you did that by hand i'm impressed, but think you could have gotten the same effects with a simple program. just a thought |

It's 3dsmax 3.1, rendered with brazil (i.e. superior raytracer and GI)...the textures are not scanned, I redid them from the original (i.e. pain in the ass) |

Hey Buddy,
I noticed you were using brazil with a very large ground plane. The current release of brazil has a problem dealing with large ground planes. If you make the ground plane as small as possible and turn off Adaptive AA (instead of AA settings at 1 min 3 max, try 3 min 0 max) You can reduce render times from 20 hours to 10 minutes. Hope that helps.
Image looks good though I'd like to see some additional rounding of the objects, maybe some fill light?

It's not like I have anything else to do while I'm sleeping but rendering so that is not a problem.
And I won't round anything, cause in my book this is finsihed...I won't add, modify or remove anything... |

Well, anything could be surreal...better to ask "What is REAL in this image?" |

neat. I have also done some renderings with brazil and I'm very impressed. Since Brazil doen't support native raytraced areaspots at this time, you should experiment with using selfillum objects as the only lightsource. You can get very some very nice shadows with this method...

I remember an old Amiga demo where the viewer zooms into an 'Intel Outside' logo. The stuff on those demos was great, anyone know if they still going? |

Hehehe, worst thing is, the SX series were super slow because they didn't include much cache (or none at all?)
It's like Celeron VS Pentium, 486SX VS 486DX. |

Why not 486 processors? Why not a big cigar laying and filling the grand canyon? Why not nothing? |
