One of my best friends play roleplaying games with me, IRL.

She has a character that goes by the name of Elea. I've drawn several portraits of this character throughout the years, and this is just the latest one.

I know it's not really one of the best things I've done - I don't claim it is. It's... ah... sweet, though, and she's rather pretty, so enjoy =)

(Not aiming for anything new here - my friend likes this style better than my other work, so this is how I draw when I draw for her )

(Edit) I replaced the picture with a newer upload - just a few quick fixes I made on the shrunk version of the picture. I'll update the huge version when I get back home =)

This is fantastic!!! How much did you spend time doing this? Detail work is just awesome!

btw. Maybe the face is a little too green.

Rather pretty my foot! She's spectacular!

I don't think I need to repeat my opinion of this one to you, so I won't.

But, I will add that I love the intricate little patterns on her costume.

Anyone who doesn't like your smooth style can suck my socks.

Another nice piece Enayla! Love the roses, her face, and her little scarf designs on the bottom.

If I had to comment though, I'd probably say the hair looks a little out of place... not the same level of realism as the rest of her body. The tone in her face I think should be more pinkish than yellow... that's just my oppinion. =) Great work as usual!

edit: not yellow, but greener looking.. desaturated. =)

Your fashion sense is just...impeccable. I am drawing at the moment, a woman in a dress with lots of folds. I always draw dresses with lots of folds, to hide the amorphous nature of the garments.... You, on the other hand, aren't afraid of the exuberant flourishes, the fancy designs....

(I'm trying to say I like her dress.) And her hair, and the feathers. The only thing I'd say on the critique side is that the face seems a bit larger on the right hand side than on the left...as though her jaw extended a greater distance to the right. (My right, that is, not hers.) But the shadows cover that. I'm sure your friend will be delighted.

The colours, by the way.... I adore it. Bright and vibrant, but soft at the same time. How DO you manage it?

You are an amazing artist and this is a great pic. There is something really funny going on with her breasts though.

Chicks that play RPG's... on their own?? How cool! We guys have to force our girlfriends to play in my group!

anyway, i love the character! from the hair and trinkets i'd say it's an elven princess, but she has the facial features of a regular human. what games do you guys play?

Enalya, that's very nice, I think the contrast on her face is a little bland however. I think the eyes and skin highlights could be a little brighter to match the rest of the images.

Just my opinion. You paint such fantastic images. errr.. Fantastical images. They're wonderful.

Great work as always, Enayla; The only thing I would comment on are the breasts; They seem kind of...plastic...? I've found that many women (how funny) draw breasts _way_ too perky, and are usually worse about it than guys.

Her right shoulder (one towards us) is dipping down it seems but her left breast is hanging down farther. Looks kinda awkward.

Good (understatement) err GREAT job on the rest though.

Do you know you're that good or just pretend to not think so? haha! Seriously, another nice piece. Your detail work is outstanding and ALWAYS adds to your art and not detract from it! Keep it up!

Thanks everyone, but ...aaaaaaaargh!!

The morning after I finished it, I can see all the /stupid/ mistakes. I'm going to have to fix this when I get back from work. Sigh, sigh, sigh.

(Edit) Forgot something, something rather hilarious actually...

CapnPyro: She /is/ an elven princess. The ditz character (she's rather ditzy sometimes) was forced to marry an elven prince not too long ago. Well, forced and forced... she liked him, she just didn't want to get permanently hooked up. She was a bit of a...well... um... let's just say she liked boys. She /is/ originally a human though. Just learning how to behave in the elven court. So... bingo with your guess!

The game we play is my personally invented fantasy roleplaying game.

And you say this isn't of your best pieces? I think it is amazing!!!
I wish I had a character portrait like that for my Baldur's Gate hero, but...I don't fit your preferences when drawing men (I wish I looked like one of your guys, well, except the ears, of course).

Okay, this doesn't actually have anything to do with neither Enayla's picture, nor her ability to draw boobs, but...

Two things struck me about this comment as rather odd.

Firstly, and most obviously, that breasts come in all sorts of odd shapes and sizes, ranging from extremely perky cones, to shapeless lumps of flesh, with all sorts of pleasant variations in between. I often see comments along the lines of "Her breasts are too big/small," or "round/pointy," or "uneven/perfect." Someone please tell me why this is? Real life knows no such limitations. Real life presents us with countless variations in the bosom department, and yet we don't walk around saying "excuse me, ma'am, your breasts do not look real, please adjust them in such and such a way." Well, maybe we do, with the advent of plastic surgery, but you get my point. Why do we impose our own expectations of how breasts should look on other people's art, when real life constantly shows us that breasts are as different and varied as fingerprints? Perhaps if we didn't, we'd see more realistically proportioned women in art.

Secondly, I was sort of knocked sideways by the concept that women should be able to draw breasts any more accurately than men, mostly because, before I sat down and thought about it, I agreed, I think. Women have breasts, men don't; ergo women should be better at drawing them. Utter bollocks.

All men have feet. All men have hands. All men have noses, eyes, ears, lips, nipples, fingers, hair, and many other features that pop up in every other picture posted on this forum. At least, they do unless they've had a rather unfortunate accident. Does that stop them from making a total pig's ear out of them when drawing them? Fuck no. Misproportioned limbs, blocky feet, mangled hands, uneven eyes; you'll see all these and more around here, and yet we all have them. So it stands to reason that just because women have breasts of some form or another, they aren't necessarily under some obligation to draw them correctly every time. Whatever 'correctly' is. (See point 1)

-- end rant --

PS. The updated version does look better, Enayla. All the more amazing, that is.

This is pretty Enayla. But something about the eyes bugs me. It looks as though they are off center or just spaced a part too far.

I would pay money (If I had any) to see the layers and progress steps you use when you create images. Long ago you did the hair tutorial. If you ever had the time, it would be greate to see what steps lead to creating your work.

As Always it is very, very good !

very beautiful.

i especially like the light stuff that wraps around her hair. It reminds me of Aubry Beardsley's ink drawings... but in color.... and more... beautifuler... heh. yeah.

the foliage on her head doesnt look "painted on" it has a soft look, as if it would be soft to the touch - as roses are :P

the sence of mass and weight here is great.

the background is nice too

good work.

Well said SlightlyTwisted...

--my rant--

Its true that you cant generalise and say they should always be completely round and perky. I think that when people say "those looks too low down" or "they are too pointy", they have in mind an 'ideal' and there seems to be a generally accepted ideal of large, round and perky. Not saying that aint nice!

But... its an 'ideal'...

like it or not it's gonna crop up a lot. It's whether or not people recognise the fact that they are churning out lots of 'ideals', that shits me. Sure I dont mind if they do, as long as they understand it.

--end of my rant--
