Thanks dude!
To be as realistic as possible was more or less the purpose. Still not there yet though!

And yeah, I'll need all the luck I can get with that job (how the f. will I do that????).

The light from the right is realy nice. Love it. And the textures...they are awsome. There is no doubt, you can call your self a professional matt painter, even though you are a bit shy on that side....

I'm quite sure he used 3d - so he says on his
http://www.vigilante.net/~loki/pages/gallery_pages/tunnel.htm site.

It's still awesome, though, texturing and all of that

Thats really great, i love the textures, but more the scene it self. Just sitting here looking at it i can picture different thing happening within the area. My favorite mental image so far had a guy in the entrance way standing casting a heavy shadow on a guy laying on the floor in the entrance way across from it...mmmmm

Thanks guys!

I basically used e v e r y t h i n g to make this pic. Yes, I started in 3D, because I wanted to try it. Also - intersecting tubes are a biatch to construct, so I took the shortcut there. The texture was taken from photographs I took in downtown LA - there's a lot of old conrecte & other rotten stuff. I prepped those textures & did some lighting on it.
After the render was done I first did a cleanup to iron out glitches in the render.

Also - almost all the walls are entirely overpainted, because my bumpmap went haywire on me. The sign on the left was put in, so were all the cracks and the entire floor.

Well, and then, I went to bed, because I waws tired

HEY hows it going
This looks awsome...

OK..I didnt read all the posts and so if Im reapeting someone elses crit...just ignore me
You may also know this.

The texture on the ground is realy nice...But the closer it is to the camra the more it begens to look like a 3D texture. Slightly of course but my eyes pick it up for some reason..it seems a bit streched...I dont know..Maybe its just me....I just seem to pick it out from the rest of the picture.

Other than that..Its great..IN awww

I'm with Blitz on this one, the ground doesn't look quite right close up. I think the problem is that, well, it DOES look like a flat texture. The shadows don't seem to be at all related to the light source on the left. Same deal with the perspective of the rubble - the texture looks like a photograph from above, rotated 30 degrees away from the viewer. NOT the same as rubble viewed from 30 degrees. Anyway, I realize this would take an insane amount of work to correct. Adding some larger bits of rubble in the foreground might help, or even framing the picture differently (crop maybe 100 pixels off the bottom and top.)

Aside from that, it's an excellent picture. Great use of textures, lighting, and atmosphere.

FALLEN YOU'RE A MINDREADER!

Holy crap! I was watching 'Return of the Jedi' before I started this one, with the mindset that I wanted to make hallways that are a kind of like that. Wow ... I'll take that as the best compliment ever gotten - no matter if you meant it as such or not

Cool!

Gruessigott Peda...
really nice pic, not only reminds me of jabba's hallways, but of the tunnels you fly around in in the Descent games....
the floor texture does look kinda flat, now that you're getting into some more 3d to layout/help with your paintings, you gotta think about how your texture paintings go with the 3d lighting of your scene and at what angle you view your objects, bump maps can only do so much (and i've had my share of probs with maya's bump map/lighting.... remember my castle? started that one in maya, but then just switched back to 3d max cuz of this:
well, anyway, kickass picture man, and have fun with your new job =)

Hey - why V2.0?

Is it your second incarnation?

As for the pict... can't say that it looks like photo but also can't say that it looks like standart painting... something inbetween. But still kool. So is it a 3d massacre you've talking about?
And once again you did the set... waiting for actors. loneliness... i feel loneliness... (c)Enigma

btw, what soft you've used for 3d?

faust: no - the textures were photographs that I took.
Show me a hand-painted texture that does a better job than the appropriate scanned counterpart - and even if - what a waste of time ...
