R2D2 had character, the lost in space robo only cared about "Danger" if "Will Robinson" was watching. I just saw the movie Red Planet, (Val Kilmer) on DVD, and I have to say that I am about 70% sure that I have changed my favourite robot to now be the "Amee" thing they had.
I thought that it was pretty Damn the cool!!
Sorta acted like a friendly dog, but then turned ninja turtle when they pissed it off.
Any other cool the robots you peoples like. |

That two leged mecha in Robocop was awesome--at least from the previews.
I also like the AT-AT.
And there's this robot girl from a short in 'Robot Carnival' that's really cool. At the end of the short her face blows of and cracks on the ground, so we know she's a robot. Ahhh... |

Mr Pumpernickel: Thanks for the link man, (slapped myself with a wet fish, forgot I had internet!!!!!!)
Spiral eye: Ed-209 in Robcop, first post mentioned it, *All those in agreement that he kicked arse say "I"* (Well, . . . till he took a swan-dive down the stairs anyways)
Ilmari & the_monkey: "JOHNNY FIVE" from short circuit 1&2, Damn, I forgot about him!!! That cat came with a nuclear lazer or something on his back (I think from memory he swapped it for a lunch box at his own request for movie number 2)
Someone also mentioned "Twinkie", Buck Rodgers side kick from the eighties TV series while I was at lunch.
Can anyone remember the little guy with the twin lazer guns from an old movie "The Black Hole" He had an evil arch nemisis robot too I think.

yea the robot from 'red planet'. that was bad ass. its been my current western robot fav since i saw it. its unfortunate that the movie sucked harder than anything ever created. its sad when a robot is the best actor in the movie.
before that it was the terminator. what was it? t1000? classic, timeless design. |

yessir. TV-boy aka Canti from Furikuri. At the moment, anyway.
......although the electronics-eating dog-bot was pretty neat, too.

ED 209, no question about it. Just so damn ballsy. balistic said it all.
The bad guy from Robocop 2 was kinda cool too, from what I remember... But then again, anything big, nasty, heavily armed and robotic is cool to a 12-year-old, which is when I last saw the movie. |

Zero21: Ah yes! The black hole! That was an excellent movie for its day!
Ok, my vote is for Maxemillion (spl?) red evil robot from that flic.
Lesson for the day: Robots with whirling blades mounted on their arms and no remorse are cool.
"Maxemillion! Maxemillion stop! That's an order! STOP! AIEEEEEEEEE!"
I often would like to get behind the controls of an ALIENS powerloader as well and go mountain climbing or something. |

Greetings. I'm a new member.
I think Star Wars and it's first two sequels had enough robotics to keep us all talking for days. Somebody mentioned Robby. He shows up in the Jawa sale scene of SW because the studio re-used everything. R2D2 was used as part of the alien ship in Close Encounters.
As for my fave, I liked the scout droid from Empire Strike Back.
Also, that robot from A.I. that I've only seen in the previews. The one whose head is a face and a ponytail, but nothing in between. That's kewl. |

I have a thing for the droids in Star Wars Episode One.
"Mmmmmmmmmmm, Roger roger"
lol. I also have to, must get, absolutely need a a metallic model of the droid from that movie that rolls up into a ball, and moves around, you know... those droids, from EP1...
I also have a thing for the skeletal Terminators. Mmm, robots.
Storm Troopers are cool too, although they arent robots.. my fav line of a storm trooper, from RTOJ
"Look sir, droids!" LOL!, funniest line ever. |

The only part of Robocop I have ever seen is when the big mech thing malfunctioned and ripped up the guy in the office building. That was so awesome!! |

Heh. On a geek forum, no one has yet mentioned any Star Trek robots. It would seem that all the cliche stereotypes would not be true, minus the fact that this thread actually exists. |

My favorite's got to be Marvin, from the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Excerpt:
"Excuse me,' said the owner of the metal hand in a voice that would have made an insect of a more sentimental disposition collapse in tears."
"How do you think I feel?' said Marvin bitterly.
'Just ran off and left you, did they?' the machine thundered.
'Yes,' said Marvin.
'I think I'll shoot down their bloody ceiling as well!' raged the tank. It took out the ceiling of the bridge.
'That's very impressive,' murmured Marvin.
'You ain't seen nothing yet,' promised the machine. 'I can take out this floor too, no trouble!'
It took out the floor too.
'Hell's bells!' the machine roared as it plummeted fifteen stories and smashed itself into bits on the ground below.
'What a depressingly stupid machine,' said Marvin and trudged away." |

that tank/walker thing guarding the car near
the end of Ghost in the Shell was pretty cool.
Also, the unpiloted Labor at the start of
Patlabor the movie kicked ass.
And .. *sound of anime geek being dragged from computer* |
