Hi. I did another one of these charcoal paintings. It didn't turn out quite how I would have liked, but there are some parts of it that I'm quite happy with...

Sorry for the big image size, but downscaling these kind of pictures are a no-go, since all the detail would be ripped to look like smudgehell due to all of the detail in the textures... =/ Painter all the way and no ref. (it shows!)

Boomstick bares it all! =)

Hey they mein friendt! Cool pic! It's refreshing to see this sort of stuff once in a while, aside from all the dodge/burn/colored stuff.

I think there's a few things lighting wise that could possibly have improved the pic. For instance, her breasts and the armor under them should be toned down in value a little to make them a little more soft and not as flashy, make the parts where light is very subtle just behave as that.

Aiiii... I hope you don't mind comments on finished pics. Just pointing out a few things is all. It's a cool pic! - you gonna do more?

cheers mate,
frost.

Guten abend mein freund. (well, at least its afternoon here).

Yes, I'm taking a break from the usual colorstuff right now. I mean - If you cant't make a b/w picture have depth and form how on earth do you expect to accomplish that in a fullcolor painting? So I do this both because I need to train my sense for form and light/shadow and also because I've always enjoyed doing noncolored pcitures... So yes... there'll be lots more.

Please do give you best comments. Getting info back from the talented artists of this board is one of the things that keep me above water these days, eh-heh. And you are so correct. I must admit, that when I knew it wouldn't turn out the way I had imagined from the start I just rushed it out the door. I didn't even finish the scales so they are rater flat. Since it's a noncommisioned pic I believe I can get away with this, but if it where for a custumer I would probably have started on most of the pic again from scratch... =/ Thx. for the comments

Joohoo...
Nice pic BooM, I like the hair and face a lot, good shapes, the way you are creating these b/w pieces technique wise is interesting. Keep it up... I think that I might take another stab at a b/w pic tomorrow. It should be a great therapeutic (?) excercise for dealing with sunday sickness

Did you get that book recomendation I sent you on John Harris' Mass?

Wow...really cool. I love the texture and the lighting. Of course, I'm not a talented artist...but I'll try to comment if it's welcome.
