that's very well done. Even if you would rather use painter than ps, you seem to do a very good job with it. I have no complaints... should I be able to recognize her? Cause uh... I dunno who she is...
It could be nice to see the completed image though... You have a good eye for light/shadow relationships.

I'm impressed. Particularly with the mouth area and your use of tone throughout. Popping the core shadows a bit would really make this stand out.

A blonde Natalie Portman perchance?

well, its internet porn superstar jen of course, im sure now i win the 'He's a pig award'. but she has such beautifull features,(mouth, eyes) that i couldnt resist. thanx greenpeach,(im a huge fan of what ive seen of yours) and all... very helpfull...
i thought it was a little bland, not to much style to it, but its just an exercise i guess. oh and SoMK, i wanted to change that 'quick' part, after i realized exactly how long it took me=) relative to how long i normally take, an hour is quick.
and natalie portman has some of the most amazingly perfect features ive seen ever.

roundeye : bloody good job, man. I love the consistency you managed to get in the skin tone... nice and even. What's this chick's name again? I don't usually peruse pr0n ...*cough*... but I'd like to find a couple of pics... I collect images of good looking women to inspire me. Jeez, that still sounds bad, eh?

looks good, overall.

Some of the darks in the hair are a little overstated, it is very light hair.

Where things go into shadow, keep the values closer together, not so much light and dark.

Where you have airbrushed the larger forms turning from light to shadow try to keep in mind the radius of the forms you are describing. Ex. the chin. You have the edge of the jaw and the chin as one tube-like radius. The chin has a smaller radius than the back of the jaw, so it should be reflected in the rendering. The same goes for the other big forms of the head.

I think this is what you are reacting to when you want painter. Fix these areas and I think it won't feel as smooth and mechanical.

Watch the darker halftones and bright highlights, makes her look shiny (greasy) unless that's what you wanted Pretty girls generally get played up as matte

hope this helps

thanx everyone, and that was very helpfull spooge. thanx for the tips. theres still much i need to learn about rendering the intricasies of female faces. and yeah i tend to purposely exagerate shadows and especially highlights. i dont know why... i think i find reflective surfaces more interesting. anyways thanx again.

push that left nostril (our left) in just a bit by using some highlight, it seems to just be floating there. Beautiful rendering, she's gorgeous
