I don't know how many of you guys knows about that but there is a guy called Josh Gans, who lives in LA (Santa Monica I think) who created a website entirely made of other people pictures that he signed. The website is: http://jgans.home.mindspring.com/index.html

What's more impressive is that most of the pictures are coming from this forum! I spotted some Fred Flickstone, Micke and other people paintings. So check his site to see if he's not stealing your work.
Then I think we have to take actions and let people in the art, game and movie industry know the name of this asshole so that he will never ever be hired anywhere. You can also send him a nice email. A lot of people already did.

What this guy did doesn't have a name. Maybe he has some psychological problems. Maybe he's just a crook. This is just plain unbelievable.

We have to be sure he'll pay for that.

*Fuming-bloody-pissed-off-beyond-belief* He took one of my pictures. I've never had that done to me. How dare that little piece of human shit do that? I hope he gets his arms amputated so no one will ever believe he can paint. By the gods if he got paid for using our pictures.....

sadly, I must say that is one of the lowest things I have seen. I hope he responds to this thread with some sort of explanation. I can't beleive someone would be so low as to just rip the work completley and not even change it.

I caught someone copying some of my ink work and re-signing it a few years ago
and I had a 200+ portfolio stolen within a few months of that. I have not sold a
non-commissioned original since then. There is a difference between inspiration
and plagiarism. There is no difference between plagiarism and theft.

Mr Buttle: since I know some people don't read every section of the forum and that I think it's very serious affair I posted the message everywhere. I agree that only the one in Discussion should stay.
I hope you understand.

Here's a nice email from our favorite thief.

-----Original Message-----
From: Josh Gans [mailto:[email protected]]
Sent: Wednesday, March 28, 2001 4:38 PM
To: [email protected]
Subject: apologized

Hello

Yes, you caught me, and I not only apologized, but removed everything
from my website and hard drive. I dont know why..perhaps it was
admiration, perhaps it was because I thought it could help me get a
better job in the games industry. I dont know..but it was stupid..and
foolish. I am extremely sorry and it certainly will not happen again.
I would appreciate it if you would remove those links and images from
your web site, but I suppose that is just a part of my punishment.
However, if you do, I would be grateful.
Anyways, nothing personal was intended and I can only apologize so much
and feel guilty for a long time.
sincerely,
Josh Gans

And My response . . .

The word sincerely coming from you is comical. Of course I will not take those pages down. In fact I'm going to put a link to as part of my signature on Sijun as well as on my home page. There is no excuses for pre-meditated lying and theft.

...if imitation and theft are the greatest forms of flattery (people thinking your art is good enough to "rip off")... Then mine must suck, because no one ever steals my stuff! *looks dejected*

visi, no. I steal your work all the damn time.
Lemme tell you something.
now come here.
alright now listen to me. Whenever I wanna impress a girl I have over, and I wanna get her naked, I say "this is my art." I then show her pictures you did with my name on it. Then I convince her to get naked so I can 'draw' her, blah blah blah i'm boning here. The point is, visi, you get guys like me laid. And I wanna thank you man.

Hey mcsteed I think the guy appologized and did his part and feels sorry..I think your being a total asshole just like him by keeping the damn thing going. What I think is funny is that your telling me not oen of you people at anytime.....ever told someone that some artwork was yours when it wasnt. I mean I got a pic when I was a teenager and gave it to a girl so it would impress her..so I am guilty..black fish you act like the guy should be hanged!!! I mean I agree what he did was wrong but you people are acting like a lynch mob...grow up!!!!

ha ha ha ha..nori your to much man!!!

Blackfish thanks for bringing this to peoples attention.

McSteed, thanks very much for putting those links here, my vampiress pic was one of the ones stolen. There is no excuse for this kind of thing and there needs to be some kind of repercussions when it does happen. These thieves need to know that they are not going to get away with it.

I would have loved to see his "How I Work" section...though I already know the basics: COPY...PASTE! Maybe he knows some advanced tricks that he stole somewhere!!!
I also love his comments on the pics...great stuff!!!
