All right, I've been workin on this one off and on for a couple weeks. I never like to call anything "completed", but I think I'm at a stopping point.
Any comments/suggestions/critiques are more than welcomed. Tell me your thoughts and inputs and all that good stuff.

She is a beauty. The lower neck seem a bit off, but it realy doesn't matter. It's a very nice pic.

I think this is well done. I like the hair especially. The colouring has a somewhat uneven effect that I don't care for, but that's a style thing, I think.

One suggestion I can offer...the contrast in the teeth is too low. I know you don't want to draw a lot of attention there, but right now it looks blurry and unfinished compared to everything else.

I admire people that take so much pride in their gf/wife or bf/husband that they go as far as doing portraits.

Lunatique once talked to me about how it could be really romantic if you did portraits of your other half on the spot infront of eachother. "what a great idea I thought".

My only concern would be screwing up something I already think is perfect. I'd rather screw up Nikki Taylors face

Great job

Here is my suggestion

check out the contrast of color between the bangs of her hair and the part right above which appears black. That would save you from doing all those hair strands that you did

Yeah that's pretty cool dude, I would suggest maybe pay a little more attention to the loose strands hanging down, and look at the way her right cheek looks in the ref pik, and also how it joins to her chin. Other than that it's cool.

I'm sure she'll be happy when she sees it.
However, check the left side of her mouth, I think it looks a bit flat compared to the ref.

Thanks for all of the comments and critiques and stuff.

Eric Pommer: Thanks for the comments. As for the teeth, I don't want to draw unnecessary attention to them. Usually teeth are underplayed in paintings because too much detail and contrast there will just make them stand out more than you would want them to... probably end up with a buck-tooth look or something.

Topeira: The pic was done in photoshop. The underdrawing was a very brief and fast gesture drawing which I then scanned in and painted layers on top of.

Visionary: Yea.. I probably did overdo the hair. It might have turned out better if I ignored all of those details and put in a few highlights.

neebhore: The loose strands could have probably used some more work... adding a highlight or two...
And do you mean our right, or her right cheek?

faustgfx: yea uh huh sure roooight...

laslauk: I made the mouth droop off too much.. the angle on her left side (our right) of the mouth is too steep.

heh I'll tell you guys what then... I'll make some changes to the hair when I have a free moment later tonight... I know there are some problems with it.. and I think taking out some detail and adding some highlights would be a good move to make.
