This picture was inspired by one of the greatest movies of all time, "Conan the Barbarian". I sketched her from scratch, so not sure about the proportions. I will eventualy paint her (any colour sugestions?)I also gave my disco baby a facelift, though for better or worse I don't know.
Warning: Pics may be a little big.

laterz.

both are very nice, a suggestion though if you want the first to look more "conanish" is give her some real muscle definition

Very nice. some crits on the sketch. She's holding the sword in a very ackward way, looks very cramped. Where's her left arm? From this angle there is no reason why we shouldn't see at least some of it. Her feet is pointed towards almost the same place. Makeing the stance looking at little uncomfortable. Try turning her right foot a little more outwards. Also the bootnails on the left leg are not following the form of the leg itself which makes it a bit 2d-ish...
otherwise it's looking good. Keep it up...

Disco Baby looks really good, can't remember how she looked last time, but it's probably an improvement
That sketch is great, you should start coloring. It's Conan Disco Baby! or Disco Baby's Conan era ancestor

Hey everyone! Back from a two day party marathon!!
Thanks for your input on the sketch. Lomi: Yes I definately agree. Though after drawing her I kinda liked the slim physique, so kept it. I would have liked to given her some toning around the stomach, but it was too concealed. BooMSticK: thanks for the crits. Before I drew her, I stood infront of the mirror to study the position. She is standing at an angle in which the nearest shoulder is dropped down being that the sword is short. This position is fairley uncomfortable, but it's what I wanted her to do. As the nearest shoulder is droped down the farthest is hoisted up. This leads to the farthest arm pulled behind her back and her hand resting with the thumb hooked onto the belt or somthing. From the angle she is standing you won't be able to see the arm, esp. with the blown out coat. Also the fur rim would obscure any traces of the shoulder. If you imagine her standing forward and viewing her at an angle with her head turned facing it is possible that the feet are facing that way. But I see what you mean with the foot so I'll have a go at rotating it. Yeah the boot buttons definately are in need of a curvature path, I'll get working on them. TheTongue: wow man! thanks for the conceptual colouring. I really like the way you have done the fur, and the colour scheme is very good. I couldn'r figure the fur/skin out. I imagined it to be light skin with dark fur, but your rendition looks much better. As for hair I considered black but already went there with DB so I'm thinking of firey red (like Red Sonja!) wayfinder: Yeah the feet were difficult to figure. I was gonna go with boots, but she would fall flat on her face in a fight, so I went with really primatively made boots. I think the right foot (nearest) looks flatter than the other one, but I am changing that anyway, so I'll round it off more.

Everyone I didn't answer: Thanks again for the words of praise!

Zenonithus - I understand what you're saying. Eventhough your explanation probably is making sense (haven't tried it out myself) I just still feel that the whole arm is missing... How about having the hand resting on the swordsheath(sp?)???.

Ahh, I should shut up, you obviously did things on purpose... Just thinking out loud...

Spent the last 20 mins workin some changes. So any last words before I paint her? Also I made a quick minor change on disco baby yet again. I promise to leave this picture alone, otherwise I'll start getting nightmars over it! See if you can spot the difference anyway
And who said an artist is never satisfied? How true!

You have a beautiful understanding for the
human body. The only comment is: the "conan"
woman should be more muscular and have an
expression of confidence. Look forward to more
of your work! catnip

Cheers catnip! Yeah, I would imagine a real authentic barbarian woman would be more on the scales of this
I'm planning to do a Conan tribute painting based on events after the movie. Gonna paint Arnie!
