Was playing around in 3Ds Max the other day, and decided to get violent with gravity forces, omnideflectors and spontanious pottery combustion.

I'ts not great, since I'm still learning...But it was fun to make and amused me.
Now I must go work on my new project,"Exploding Children, Flammable Pets, and the Priests who eat them."
enjoy!

Nex: 3Ds Max has a feature in it called Fire(Combustion in older versions).
You set up a Gizmo, Put fire on it, and tell it to explode from eh to eh and it goes boom!

Giant,
When I was first learning 3d (not to say I'm not sill learning), I used to do animations like this all the time. While, I understand they can be amusing, they don't really teach you much. I think you should do another where the teapot hops in and accidentally steps on a land mine and explodes. It would be good practice on showing some character animation and you'd still get to blow the little bastard up. So, here's my treatment of the situation. Teapot hops in happily, steps on land mine, pauses, looks down, pauses, looks at camera, get horrified look on "face", explodes.
But if you're not up to it, then I'll just say, good job on the explosion. I like the fact that actual pieces of the teapot explode and not triangles. |

I agree with meatycheesyboy... or at least, the spectator needs a few moments for their brains to see and understand what's happening in the scene they're watching. As of right now, I can't make out the teapot unless I freeze a frame or so... you'd need to add about one second of the teapot by itself so people know it's a teapot... give them time to see.
Nice nonetheless. =) |

YEah that kinda stuff is just fun somtimes.
you should try using the particle combustion. its the same thing only particle based. you can download from 3d cafe.com
also motion blur is a must if you ever use that effect. One more thing you might want to slow down the particle rotation. |

Ian: No no no...its "ka"-BOOM. Ephasis on Boom.
Meaty: whoa! Hold up, I'm getting there. This is probally the 3rd time I've opened up Max, so I dont really know what everything does. My friend told me about the gizmos and deflectors. So yeah, when I get a better understanding of what things do, I will definatly delve into stuff like that....I mean hell, I don't even know how to move the camera yet!!
Frost: Yeah, I don't know how to make things hide/unhide whilst animating, So when I add more pre-frames the fragments dissaper.
Elijha:Cool, thanks!

Giant, sorry. I guess I did get a little carried away. But, when you do learn a little bit more about max, I look forward to seeing that teapot die some more. |
