Looking through your site, I had a sudden apreciation unlike before.
F**K YOUR GOOD.
Theres some great work on your Misc section that I'm sure i havn't seen, some really smooth work.
Do you still use oils and if so do you enjoy using them. Computers have there obvious bonuses but do you get the urge to pick up a brush?.
Surely theres a buzz which one can't get from using a PC?. |

Looks great Veb! I didn't even know you did 3D stuff. It was nice to see some of your older stuff too. I like the new style you have going best though. Keep posting you're a real inspiration.

Looks like you have been getting a lot of your inspiration from Ashley Wood lately, Veb. Even for your website design/layout. http://www.ashleywood.com |

I like your new website Veb - easy to navigate and shows your work very well.
That Julie Strain FAKK2 model should have been the one used in Ritual's game instead of their so-so models... she really looks like Julie. |

Veb, great site! I have to admit, I prefer your vallejo/frazetta style. It seems to convey a much more natural painterly style amazingly rendered in the digital realm. Your newer style is more reflectant upon the so oft seen artwork of many of the 'fantasy' artists of today. That being said, I highly praise you for continuing to explore more in creation of an even more fantastic style and can't wait to see more of your fantastic art. I love showing people and telling them that it's digital not traditional, and that it's the artist, not the tools he uses that makes the art! Keep it up!

The newer style is something I do now, to well..do other work than Conan. And because I like it better personnally, which is the most important.
Although I just sold "destroyer" in the new style to Conan yesterday;-) The editor even liked my new style better, and thoguh it was time for a change(I did like 80% of last years covers for them, and I started feeling "used up"
Publishers kinda like to go with whats hip, and old fashioned Borsi/Frazetta style is not, unless you are Boris and Frazetta.
I got inspired from seeing various McFarlane artists, especially Ashly Wood(whom which I just visited his website yesteray) .-....todo whats more cool to have on Comics these days. I will offcourse evole in this style as well as my previous.
Currently working on Boba Fett. Everybody else here seems to have done one..time for me too;-)
The 3d models are simple rendrings of some a handful of the about 100 realtime monsters for Anarchy online. I have some even coole, but I have to wait unitl they have been shown by marketing or other ingame screenshots first.

Good God, Vebjorn, you're work is absolutely incredible, you're easily one of the best fantasy artists to date. Norway is lucky to have you. |

hey veb, AWESOME models.. do you do the modeling/mapping too? I assume you do since you have other models on the site... but the mapping on those seem near perfect...
makes me wanna buy Anarchy... if only I agreed with the monthly rate...
btw the ottous has a small mapping seam smack dab on it's side... just thought I should take this one oppertunity to bag on you

Yep, I do the mapping an modelling too, and in rare cases animation. I animated one of the games boss monsters that I`ll put on the site, as soon as it`s been revealed in screenshots.
The reason for the monthly fee is simple, the amout of server machines, and enormous bandwith costs with 40-60000people (like EQ) playing playing at the same time, unlike Quake, on hte same servers.
Plus the operations cost and the fact that you need a full development team(live team) maintaining and adding new stuff to the game every week and making expansions. Just selling 300000 copies of the game would not support this more than a couple of months. See..point. After learning all this, I too would gladly shell out this fee.The cost of launching and starting a online game are huge compared to a normal game.
Most online game players play these games for years, so paying 10$ or so a month is still cheaper than buying a new 50$ game a month.

Some other great works I have never seen before. Truly amazing textures on the low poly 3d.
Website: Didn't like all that white space! But good design (on the graphic part). |

Nice redesign Veb!
Um, the page title comes up with 'Untitled Document' which makes bookmarking a bitch, and it would also be nice if the box was centred in the browser window (although I have no idea how to do that myself). Anyway, they're just a few suggestions, take them or leave them.
Apart from that, I love the new site. It's clean, fast loading and fairly easy to navigate. The title image is great, giving a moody example of your new work without being to specific.
Great work Veb,
and good luck with your new style.

Wow Veb, your have certianly outdone yourself. I hope you continue to work in this style. I can see major improvements over the other artists who do this type of imagery. Great Work!, who knows, maybe we will all see a comic of your very own someday? |

Thanks guys..I`ll check into the frontpage naming.
And for the white..I`ll stick to it until I figure out a better color. I works very well with my 3d images, and one usually puts white frames on prints in the firstplace, since white brings out the colors right. But the negative part..it hurts the eyes a bit
Yep I did the AO art mentioned. Somehow I continue to forget to post it on my site. And I did the textures for the models aswell. I did not design all the 50-60 monsters I`ve made for the game though. |

The picture at the top has a rocky/papery texture to it, and it doesnt quite suit the plain colour clean looking body. Maybe make a low contrast tiled background on it instead ( where the text is ).btw Your Art , is just amazing.

yah I definitely understand why you have to charge a montyly fee... it's just that I don't like paying things per month for games which I rarely play once every 3 months or so... (I don't get easily addicted)
I hope Funcom gets more than enough people to pay for Anarchy though, as it's turning out to be one of the more interesting second gen MMORPGs in development...
any real improvements on the same ol formula though? (kill, collect stuff, show it off, kill?) because that's really my biggest problem with these games. I have played Asheron's call (during most of the betas) Everquest (at school...) and Ultima online... I liked asheron the best out of those.... but they were all essentially the same ol stuff...
