Yikes!
Very dark and sinister. Though I'm not sure if that blurey end of the cape works. It looks like a shadow. Or mabey this guy is formed out of the shadow, if you know what I mean! |

That is awsome veb....wow you are getting better fast....man that looks good..wow!
[edit] ok ok..one suggestion is to give some more life to that magic effect. Have some more glow coming off that hand..like as if the magic is just spewing from him..also give a little bit of that color to like the cloth around the face..every surface which would be effected by the light needs a bit of that color....I personaly would add little tiny glows and trials for effect. For the most part thay effect looks awsome. Ohh and also notice that your focus of the character is very sharp but his cap and towards the edges look resolution. Try doing that with color rather then a blur effect. You did that with your conan pics and it is a bad habit to keep. Keep everything sharp and clear and use color value to focus your area of interest.

Jolly good stuff ol'chap!.
This 'Dark' change your exhibiting is a welcomed change, its mighty fantastic even.
I see quite a different style (due to medium I suppose) in the way you've drawn the muscles.....more ridges and harsher definitions, which looks frickn mean.
Crits- The cape (as said). I think you should opt for sumptin else.
Milkmans on the right track..... I reckon you should put a touch more magiky stuff around his hand but keep it simple (unlike overdone comic art).
Oh...the skulls/effects look awsome and the that gross green bg is fucken swell.
NICE

Right on Vebjorn! These lastest peices of work have some serious kick butt colors in them. The sense of action in this one is great. Makes me fear him even more not seeing the face!
Keep it up!!

Veb, I really like the textures and color in your new stuff, they're great. However, here, I think some portions are a little heavy-handed. Specifically, the dark area at the bottom. The movement is so straight and flat that it takes away from the whole. That's my take on it. Not a big criticism.

I think you've found a new style that suits you. Any plans on doing some covers with this style? Or moving into a different genre of illustration?

Thnaks
Blurry cape end. I`ll probably fix it since most people think it looks strange.
Covers: Well, right now this is the result from a Conan break. But hopefully I`ll get my stuff printed elsewhere. Conan here pays like shit, making it very hard to do your best unless it`s for fun, thats why I`m trying to break out of the very limited Frazetta/Conan like images. The market is too small. But there will probably be some conan covers featured in this new style. I have opted to wait with showing these to the editor a little while longer. I kinda don`t want to let Conan influence the style more than neccesary;-)

Awesome. It reminds me of the new Hell Spawn comic by Ashley Woods. Good job!

Hmm, this is your absolute best sofar..
its SOO EXTREAMLY BEAUTIFUL!!
I can see alot of macfarlane-ish hellspawn in your latest work, and i really like what i see. I hope you can evolve this style even further.
Can you post a bigger version of this? or just tell us abit more about how you painted it?
The unfocused part of the cape and other parts of the painting fits the style perfectly. I dont think you should change anything

I think this is one of your better images, the atmosphere is really nice, and it looks quite proffessional. Although I wouldn't say it's horror, and looks still very fantasy and in the vien of Frazetta death dealer along with the other one you did. But I definetly prefer this darker stuff to your usual Conan work. Keep it up and lets see more! ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Mmm....Visual ecstasy! Can I say "Now, THIS is very, very goth" without starting another -thing-? (JOKE!) No, really. Being serious. (For once). The colours are so unbelievably deep & rich...and that scritchy, dirty background.... It's delicious. If it were food, it'd be a pricey entree at the Four Seasons. The contrast of the amorphous and the sharply defined gives it an eerie, ghostly feel, which is very atmospheric. Every time I see your work, I think to myself: "Damn it, Socar. Why couldn't YOU have thought of that?" But, hey. I'm glad you thought of it.
My only critique's on the arm--it seems as stocky on the forearm as on the upper arm. A little tapering before & after the elbow joint & at the wrist would give it a skeletal, gnarly feel which I think would make this perfect.... Still, that's a matter of personal taste. Overall, the picture's just...tasty. Do more....

Very visually appealing work as usual. I admire the fact that you are not sticking to your 'Frazetta/Vallejo' style and trying new techniques even though the old ways worked wonderfully well! Fan-friggin'-tastic! Keep up the work and thanks for posting the eye candy!

Just simply awesome as usual, I love everything about it, I think the blurring of the cape suggests movement and focus on the main character. Brilliant, no crits from me
