Ok..Just gave Conan a kick in the behind. I need a break. I just figured out I`ve made like 60 covers..55 sofar been printed. So I just sketched out lots of weird shit(added most to the sketches directory on my site) and decided to give some of them a finish. For a while now I`ve been planning to try out using similar technique as I do for the textures I make for monsters in Anarchy online, hence using alot of differnent textures as filters to get interresting effects. Well then I get to see some cool farout Hellspawn artwork and figure; hmm..lets just doe something completely different. Here`s the first two attempts. If I continue down this dark path..they`ll probably get better;-)

I like them. It's a nice change from all the Conan and his ladyfriend pictures.

I really like the second one, although, I'm not a fan of the blue stuff.

Hey Veb, Pesonally I like the style on top - the skull..it tells me "Veb", as for the second pix it tells me someone else. I think the top pix is done much better even though it's just a study. Just my two cents. Ed--

nice texture mashing, and drawing... the one on the bottom the lighting still seems a little Photoshop-y still

It took a few hours to make them. I`ve never had more fun drawing than doing this. I`m gonna do more. But I`ll take my time on each. Since there is no paycheck waiting for these(atleast not now), maybe I`ll manage not to rush eveything I do from now on;-)

They`ll probably be blended like my twisted music taste; All saints, Manson, NIN, Snickerpimps, Dr Dre/Eminem and not forgetting..Imani Coppola;-)

I love you're bottom one. Looks awesome. I love how it kinda has this drippy look to it.
textures are awesome too. Like this style more than the usual conan style. Though that was great too, so...

Hey Veb, It's great to see you're still exploring new stuff.
You've done a great job on these.
Some things you may want to experiment with..
this will not be digital, but you can scan it in..
Get some thick paper and spatter diluted plastic cement on it or liquid frisket. Then cover the paper with stuff like coffee grounds, ink, tea..anything that's water based and will stain. then peel back the glue and you'll get some great textures for this.
Another method, if you're familiar with intaglio, is marbeling. Get a tub with about 2 inches of water and spatter some oil on it. Dip your paper into the water and slowly bring it up so that the oil or diluted oil paint sets on top of the paper, let it dry and you'll get some very nice textures that way, you can also do a combination of both.
It's great to see your style loosening up some more.
Good luck with it.

Definately like the second piece, it has a nice dark, menacing look to it. I don't really like comparing styles but this reminds me of Simon Bisley's work on the Lobo's Back comic.
Nice work.

It so easy to forget that you can do far more than Conan art. You've been working your ass off, and it's nice to see you posting different stuff. Both are kickass.

The only thing with the reaper that bugs me are the spikey bits on his helmet. They look quite flat to me. I think it would look better if the spikes (on the left and right)were maybe the same length.

The background textures are soo very very cool.

I like the lower one, but I keep seeing it with glowing eyes, or maybe I need to get my eyes checked.

Far out! That's the shit Veb!

The top image looks great (apart from a few perspective issues with the receding horn) and the bottom reaper-like image is fantastic. The textures around his scythe are awesome (Although I'm still iffy about some of the background).

What size are you creating these? - if you can make printable files of this sort of work, that would be incredible.

Keep it up Veb!
