This one took a bit longer, and it's bigger, and more refined. Ah well.

Just thought I'd share.

I'm liking the colors and the use of negative space.

Yeup, those colours are pretty nifty. I like the texture the brush strokes make around her cheeks and chin, too, it makes her skin look more like... well, skin. Her lips turned out great.

Those are some very shiny eyes.

God dammit,

plz don't tell me how long it took you, to finish this one....
It would take me a lot more time to get things worked up like this, what tool did you use ? Photoshop or Painter? If it is Painter, I need to start with it...

Nice job!!!

I like her lips, especially because i have trouble painting them myself.
There are some weird things going on, like the lips & nose alignment, and some parts being sharper than others (bridge of nose is out of focus). I wish you used different colors more

Again Enayla, Great work.

This one seems to be a dif style. This shows the brush strokes alot more than your other works. I like this. this has a really nice feel to it.

I like it quite a bit.

wow Wow WOW!

These lunchtime pics really compliment each other.

I'm wondering if you are right-handed Enayla, cause I've noticed that it looks like a totally different pic when it's mirrored left to right, even when I flip back and forth rapidly. I just have a small theory that right-handed people draw a pic with a slight slant with certain proportions and layout - just a bit asymmetric.

In my mind, the lighting and shadowing change in the form of the face when it's mirrored. Wierd!

Yea, finally this painting has some emotion and character to it. Nice work Enayla, the last two paintings you have posted really show you growing in your mastery of painting.

I like this loose style, so much more interesting to study.

Nice use of colour and shade. She reminds me of Angelina Jolie for some reason, maybe it's the lips. I like the glazed look in her eyes and the tattoo? on her cheek.

Another question.
Do you create your work from imagination or do you use reference at all?

I'm not sure if I should be disheartened by the amount of replies (not meaning I'm getting too few of them - just that I'm getting surprisingly many for a lunch doodle)...

This picture took me about 40 minutes to make. There are a lot of mistakes in it, naturally. I know this - it's really more of a doodle than a painting. And people like this better than my usual work? *sniffle*

Ah well... back to the old drawing board I guess... *laughs softly*

Naw, but seriously. It's fun to experiment. Glad that people like it. Who knows - you might get to see more of this kind later on?

(I'm just kinda writing together all the answers here, too tired and sick to bother with one answer for each poster)

Yes, I'm right handed. And... well... since it was really just a quick picture, I didn't bother to flip it even once to check if it looked good - I was just too lazy. Doing that now, I can see that it looks screwed up... well... heheh, guess I'll have to live with that.

As for reference - yes, I use it. Occasionally. Far from all the time though. No reference for this one at all.

(Edit) clarifying something.

Beautiful as always, Enalya.
I like the small glimpses of hair you get in the darkness.

Enayla - I sometimes get the impression that your more finished pieces are over-worked. Like they have a bit too much polish and that removes the emotion. These quick pieces are more energetic and natural, you should practice this stuff more and try to incorporate this looseness into your finished pieces. Maybe you get too caught up in the details (like hair) and forget that character and emotion are what make a really memorable picture, not intricate detail.

Then again, I think all your work is great and love the way you draw hair, so you'll just have to make up your own mind.
Conor
