Bad mooded and sick, and not up to doing anything really serious... but I don't know why - I rather like how this one turned out.

Aww... on the one hand, I want to cheer you up, and on the other, I'm so blown away by your recent illness-tainted art, that I think it wouldn't be a totally bad thing if you were sick more often, if this is the result.
I like this, a lot. Aside from the fact that she's absolutely gorgeous, I really love the murkiness to this, dank, mucky colours are perfect.
Also, you know I'll never feel anything less than complete awe towards your other style, the smoothed out, touched up, refined style, but these recent pieces with the brush strokes left unsmoothed are really quite special. It adds a lot of texture and feel to them. I like that. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/biggrin.gif) |

Amazing.
Perhaps this was on purpose, but the colors themselves suggest illness. The overall figure looks healthy, but the yellows, browns, greens, and maroons remind me of something sickly, bruised, dying. The flowers somehow manage to look healthy and rotting at the same time. Phenomenal work. And you call this just playing around!

The way that the left eyebrow is lit makes it look like it is inset in the skin, looks a little funny. Too much of a highlight underneath it, I think. Other than that, it's great. |

Hiya Enayla,
been looking at all of your threads for the past few months, and I'm really impressed with your work, but I have to join in with what seems to be the general consensus: These quick drawings you've been doing are fantastic!
Your "regular" style is a bit too stylized for my particular taste (it still kicks the ass off anything I've ever drawn, don't get me wrong)... very smooth. I prefer quicker, sketchier work where you can see the brush strokes a bit more. Your recent pics, including this one, seem to follow that model.
So, to sum up... uh, I've enjoyed your work a lot previously, and now I'm enjoying it even more. Yay!
Oh, and the lighting on her upper lip is really cool. I'm not an accomplished enough artist to know if it's "right" or not... but it's cool anyway.
Cheers,
-shaithis |

I'm usually not into the pics you post because of the superclean airbrush look which really isn't my cup of tea... But this is beautiful, much more ALIVE and interesting!!! Keep it up...

Heh, the choice of colours here was very intentional. I know that these greenish/yellow/brown tones are usually used to depict illness. So what happens if I draw a pretty girl in those colours?
As to the mistakes in the picture... I know, I know. This was kind of hastily done and I've got a bad headache so I can't be bothered to fix them right now

You're sick and you can still do this, I'm lucky if I can pick up a pencil whenever I've been sick.
I really like the skin tone and the expression on her face and the flowers behind her ear are a nice touch. |

Axl: I usually get more inspiration when I'm home and sick... because I get bored, I guess.
Rattmouth: I'll look into that, then. Thanks!
And my sick-week picture marathon continues. Only now I realise I've been posting way too many topics lately, so I post my latest picture in here instead. So...well... okay, it's kind of silly. So shoot me!

hehe, I love it. It's fun! It's cute! It has a green background and a young lady in a short sleeved dress! It has little glowy winged things! Can't go wrong with that combination.
And I can still hear Danny Elfman in there somewhere...
Edit: wrong smiley.

Great stuff Enalya!
I adore the colours and expression of the first one, very dark and sinister. And the curly hair on your second pic is great - so fresh and loose!
I'm feeling this evil compulsion to somehow keep you sick, so you can keep posting this wonderfull stuff on the forum. Beware anonymous gifts of mildly poisoned apples.
Keep posting this stuff, by the way. It's incredibly inspiring.

When I saw this piece, the first thing I thought of was the velvet paintings of Edgar Leetig (aka Leetig of Tahiti).
Like everything that I've seen created by you, I really liked this pic. Don't stop.
So now throw a palm tree and some tiki heads in the background, and put a swizzle stick in her hands. Only kidding. That whole tiki-trend has hopefully run it's course (for the second time).
But you should all run to your local bookseller and see if they have the Leetig of Tahiti book. Only to flip through it, I would never encourage anyone to buy anything (marketing and advertising does enough of that shit). You can see the cover artwork if you do a seacrh on Amazon.com.
Later,
Rattmouth

The first one is veeeeery nice, one of the best I've seen from you. You got away from that airbrush-look, that sometimes makes your work look a little cold or lifeless (though technically very good). This one has warmth. You even dared to try another technique on hair... Only the highlight on the upper lip looks a little hard to me.
Yeah, second one is kinda silly, but it has a nice background, which is not too common in your pics. And shooting you would be a shame losing one of the most busily (sp?) posting persons on sijun. And the hair-technique goddess. And a rarely seen here female I might add.
Lovely work, rock on! |
