wow great work but i ain't old enough to know anything about the 70's childrens programming. Well i think i know the kind of atomosphere that you tried to create and it is certainly spooky

Here's another picture.
Some years ago, when I planned my exam film in animation college, I came up with a rather bizarre story (I ended up making something else though).
Sitting around some days ago wondering what to draw next, I remembered this, and decided to draw this kind of screenshot from the film I never made.
I wanted to create a spooky, unsettling atomsphere like the one you get when you read brothers Grimm or watch childrens TV from the 70's....
I guess, with some imagination you can guess what happens next.... > )

I TOTALLY know what atmoshpere you mean (with childrens TV from the seventies) and you captured that very well. I like the stop-motion sort of look to this, models and such, it's always had a feel of unworldliness. |

Thanks for your replies and nice feedback here so far!
Isric: Yeah, it was exactly this wicked stop motion look I tried to achieve (having in mind shorts like The Sandman and Henry Selick's one with this twoheaded girl (part of it ended up as an MTV jingle years ago) - if you know them). If I would add a soundtrack to this it would have to be Tom Waits!
I'm not too familiar with 70's children's tv around the world (can't see where you're from), but atleast in Norway we had some freaky, mad (!) stuff which scared a whole generation and now has turned into a cult thing. I would guess it wasn't that different other places around the globe.
Great to read you got that feeling though!
Bilbo & Goofball: I think this grain is actually adding a lot to the atmosphere (which is why I decided to keep it). I also decided to add this light brownish filter to make it look like some old illustration/photo. I'm posting a small version of how it looked like before it put filter and grain on for you to compare. What do you think?
Nice you liked it anyway!
Lomi: Hm.... Look again: Twoheaded girl: One ugly head (obviously angry), one beautiful head (well, sort of) obviously fascinated by the man. Man hiding flowers behind his back (maybe in love?), playing a saw (why a saw?).... What's next?
>-)
Superbug: Thank you!

I really like it. THe noise gives it kind of a grainy film feeling to it. which lends itself well to the peice. good job.

I love this picture because it almost looks like clay/woodcut/foam animation. The noise i think is the only thing I don't like and its not because its specks but because its colored. I really like the monochromatic noise myself. I love the guys hands!
