I decided to paint something this weekend (doesn't happen too often nowadays). This is what i came out:
These are quite(?) fast. Perhaps 4 hours total. Feel free to comment on them. Does the glass look convincing? Other than that the forms are srewed up. And the same goes for the perspective in the cemetery. Didn't draw perspective lines on either of them (i should have). When I began drawing on them, I had in mind like 15 minute pictures or so, but i decided to finish them...
I also added a step by step for the glass.

The glass is sweet and well rendered but the yard is freaken excellent, your lighting skills rival that of the demon.

omfg those r practically photo quality, the yard is just insanely well done and the glass is pretty well done... only question I have is how you did such detail in only 4 hours?! |

I don't believe in perspective because linear perspective only works on linear planes and the earth is round and bumpy. It looks like the graves are a little down hill but that doesn't make it wrong in fact is adds to the action of the landscape. I love it, especially the trees on the left they look so skectchy but for somereason it works. Very very cool stuff.

Hi! Thanks for the comments. Not the harsh CRIT i expected, but cool anyways.
I had photos as reference for both images, but they are very loosely based on them.
(My reference photos were in color).
As for the glass; Yes indeed i could put more energy and time on it to make it look even more realistic, but that wasn't my intention in the beginning.
As I said above, both images started out as 10-15 minute sketches, but after a few minutesm I saw the potential in them so i decided to put an extra hour or two to finish them. But yes, approx. 4 hours were spent on them.
The biggest reason why i didn't paint the glass "supa' dupa' omg so freakin' realistic"
was that the forms are totally screwed, so the time invested wouldn't be worth it...
It would be better to draw it from scrath, and uses photoshops ellipses to define the forms...
When it comes to the cemetery, i thought like this: I could either hide the distant trees and hills in low contrast and thus get the effect of heavy fog. This is a simple way of achieving the feel of depth. Or i could let them be hard contrast, almost black, but that would probably make the entire image look flat...and more...errr...stylish(!?)
I chose to keep them kind of black, but not entirely. And i also added a lens flare thing!
For the sky, i figured; If i keep it white or very bright, It'll look like mid day. I didn't want this. I chose to darken the corners slightly to get a more "dusk/dawn" feeling. And thus more moody(?) (Can't really tell if i succeeded).
The trees to the left, I can only say one thing about them: AAAARGH!!
They add a more sketchy style to the image. I kind of like that.
They look awful. So i kept them.
