Here's some sketches I did as an exercise in drawing character into my...ahem, well characters.

In anycase, personality in a drawing seems to be a very important piece of the puzzle, and I assume helps to sell the idea more. As far as conceptual sketches go.

Please tell me what you think.

comments and critique are welcome.

WOW!

I especially like the fairy. She looks so happy in a subtle way. I think my sister would like this image, she loves to draw fairies etc. Would ber really nice to see this colored, but maybe you're not into that so no pressure.

The other two are also very good, the first one even looks a little bit like my uncle :P Definately his eyes that make him look like my uncle.

Great work!

There are somethings in the girls' faces I like. Yeah, personality is the key in any character from <sigh> Jar Jar to Terminator. OK, bad example but we recognize the characters by it. Simple enough. Some of the classic characters in the old Disney animated features are a good example. Though designs and lines are simple it's the personality that in the end becomes memorable like Mowgli & Kaa in The Jungle Book.Pinocchio? Ed--

Skeez, these are fantastic. The fairy especially is perfectly done (plus she's got a nice rack). I think I'm going to start scanning pencil sketches myself, I hate all the digital stuff I'm attempting right now. Anyway, great work!

Damn fine stuff.

Are these purely from your head, the anatomy of the females is very good?. If not, these pics are still fantastic.

Hey Skeezer,
These all look great. The fist guy is probably my least favorite, though. All of these do show alot more character and emotion than most of your recent posts. Good job. So, are these straight from your head? If the third one is from your head then I'm very impressed. Not because the anatomy is so good (I know you know your anatomy, espeially on women ) but because the facial expression is so great. The fairy looks like a life drawing model. Now that we've seen alot of sci-fi and some fantasy from you, maybe you should try the horror genre or landscapes. Just for some variety, I have no doubt that they would be wonderful also. Anyhow, now I'm rambling. Good work.

Great job on these. I really like the facial expression of the gnome guy, and as has been said before the faerie looks perfect all around. Since you're going for character you might try more exageration of features and stronger emotions, but I suppose subtlety is often tougher than the over-the-top approach

Ed: definitely!

Sac: Ha, I thought I drew them too big, but I couldn't figure out how they would look smaller at that angle.

travis travis: I guess I meant more personality in the characters not in the drawing style.

Lukias: Thanks, I guess I have a good imagination All my stuff is from my head unless other wise stated.

Meaty: Thanks, *winks*

Jezebel: Thank you much

I guess I accomplished my goal, reasonably well. heh..

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate the feedback.

Pretty cool, nice realistic style, but on the subject of personality, well more personality usually leans toward more stylized... that's something to think about, but nice skills

Excellent work! Really beautifuly drawn. The fairy is my particular favourite. Lots of character incorperated into the others. I made a sketch last night. I haven't done a sketch in ages. I guess it was back in college when they forced us to draw bowls of fruit and wine bottles that took the fun out of it. But getting back to it now is a real joy!
