First. red yellow and blue, those are your primary mixing colors"with white for light/opaquecy""NO BLACK". try your next peace uning only those colors in different presures to acheave the same goals. it will be vary hard but you will get used to mixing.

Second. your background is interesting but it's blured. but for some reason the bottom isnt? if blured it would make the figure really stand out well.

Third. you have a really interesting subject, and alot of the subject is not shown. this can be good and bad. my eye's want to go right off the page. but there is nothing to balance this exit of the canvas. there needs to be sometihing to drag my eye's back in. mayby with the background or some hanging vines, be creative.

Fourth. i really like it, just spend some more time on values and color thery.

Hmm..good crit Mos..I would add a layer between background and creature, the creature and "us". Giving it a seperation which in turn will give some sense of depth. The layer I mean is a layer of color grad or flat color layer at around 15% opacity, that is if you worked in layers which do help. Alot of time what I see missing especially when it comes to paintings is lack of atmosphere, unless of course it's out in space or places like that.
Just my two cents. Ed--

this is only an exaple of an avenue you could take.

dont be offended by my manipulation of your original pece. it was meant meerly as an example. cant wait to see what you do with your next revision.
