Nice inking and coloring. I like the crow on the top of his head. I do have a question that to pose. Its a little blury to me as to weather or not his head is under his arm or growing out of his chest? just how it stayes were its at is a mistery. YOu could put it hanging from around his neck with a chain or something but what ever it is I would make it a tad clearer. With character desighn its good to make things as clear as posable. Now with illustration though its ok to leave things a mistery and it even ads depth to the story some times. But Its my own opinion, that with the case of character desighn its best to make the drawing as clear as posable. Especialy if its a model sheet. Who knows maybe some one will be working off of your character desighnes and when it happens you dont whant them coming back with something that doesnt look like the original character.
ok being a little picky I know. Any one whant to rebutle what i just had to say? Feel free. My word isnt the law and im sure there are others who have alot more expierens with this kind of thing than I do.

very cool concept ..
Its just puzzles me is the head floating or is it being held by something we can't see ..
The clothing over the neck is odd don't know what kind of shape is underneath.

That is so cool. Love the style.
Only thing that i think could be done different is the inking of the hair... To me it seems like it should be done with a thinner pen (or whatever).. Just a thought.

Jason,
You speak as though "character design" and "illustration" are two polar opposites. That isn't the case. If you are illustrating a piece and need to come up with a character for it, would that not be designing a character? Anyway, you can approach something like a character two completely different ways and both can work either for or against you. You can be extremely thurough and precise, allowing nothing to be left to the imagination. Or, you can be vague and mysterious and let the viewers decide where the lines really go. Like I said, both have pros and cons. I think it just depends on the larger scheme of things. If your character is a straight-laced business man, you want some clean lines - there shouldn't be anything "mysterious" about him. But, if you are designing a crazy shogo magic-man, I think mystery adds to the design.
Anyway, there are no right and wrongs in art. Draw whatever you wanna draw, beauty will always remain in the eye of the beholder.

Good color/inks. However, the pose itself is a too angular. The crow on the top of the hunch which sits directly in the middle makes it seem as if the head is poitioned incorrectly. This problem can be fixed easily by shifting the crow over a few pixels to the right shoulder (viewing perspective). |

Cool stuff Bizarde I think it looks fine as is really.
I think if you were designing a character to be made up in 3D or something you'd do some little sketches of the ambiguious parts to make it all easier to understand. I think it would take a big communication falure for someone to make a mistake along the lines of misplaceing the head. you'd put some notes along with it and things like that as well.
