Greets. Finally got around to buying an AC adapter for this tablet my roommate gave me for Xmas last year and thought I'd get back into the mix.
There was a time that all I did was draw skulls and whatnot in my early teens, so I sat down and fumbled thru PS doing this shading excersize. It's completely stylized with no reference material using paintbrush, airbrush, burn and dodge, and smudge tools.
Crits/comments extremely welcome.

MMmmmmmmm... Skullllzzzzzzzzzz.... Welcome to the list (as a posting participant anyway) I'm happy for you that you got your tablet up and running. I don't know what I'd do without mine. That's a pretty freaky looking skull. I like the huge squarish eyes and the tiny teeth. It makes it more creepy looking. I'd like to see you paint in some colored lighting on this one.
Best,

Heya Essobie, how's things?
Like the skull, but I agree that it needs more sharpening. As it stands, the teeth stand out from the rest. I'd love to see some further detailing on the jawbone and eye sockets, in particular.

.. tablets need ac adaptors? Hehe... oh well looks great. The only problem right now is the thing looks.... 3d alright..but in a 2dimensional way. Like everyone else said. Give hard shadows... and vary rarely do you see the light hit....straight on |

Essobie:
Looks good, you might wanna try giving it some hard edges and highlights though. Right now it's pretty fuzzy all over.
You also have a couple of anatomical issues with the skull, but I suck at pointing things like that out. Here's a scan of a skull drawing I did a few months ago. It's huge and it took several passes to get this much to fit in, that's why I didn't bother scanning the rest:
You know... a big skull/bones/skeleton thread would be pretty cool to see I think
Let's see more of these creepy creations of yours. Good work.
Beth
[edit: doh, saw you said this was a stylized skeleton, hehehe...]
