Sensai Mullins you astound me!!!! Hey where is this sudden serge of insperation coming from ???? Ok, that is it you have inspired me to start painting again. I usually only paint textures at work as it is hard to schoff at something photo realistic but I dont care what anyone says about my paintings I have to get better....that movie you did showing the way you worked really inspired me because it showed me how easily one can take something from a simple mold or value and sculpt a true vision!!! Anyways I will post my painting when I am done...I cant waite till you can post the stuff from Final Fantasy....I bet it is your best stuff so far...though I look at the stuff you have done for Contact and Bungie and I wonder how much better one could paint something...sorry for all the fan worship but it is nicve to have someone to look up to ...for awile before I joined this board and you and Liqued and Fred and others showed me just how much I need to learn to play with the big boys..to think I actually had an ego.....

I noticed when you where making the movie that you use prepainted texture files..a sort of filler...do you have a lot of these ...did you use them with this image..the texturing in his rob is great!

Craig - Love the shadowed out top half. I just think it adds soo much to the drama of the picture.

You should really do sequentials sometime for something along the lines of a comic/graphic novel medium. The panels don't seem to take you too long do to, and it would be very interesting to see how this would translate. Personally, I would love to see it! Just an idea...

Awesome as always!

I really like that one - the colors especially- the light on the belly and the right corner is spot on. the lack of contrast on the backlighted head is great . reminds me of that fatty kingpin character in Daredevil, I think.

Any Frank Herbert inspired posting is bound to be a snare for the wary DUNE fan, and this pic has got me hook, line and sinker.

I like the way that his belly is casting a shadow over the rest of him! The gold on the garment is superbly rendered.

The right arm (on our left) seems to sink a bit too much, and I'm not too sure about the backing behind his head. I think a silhouetted approach would have been a bit more creepy.

I'm really liking the stuff your posting right now. Awesome work spooge!

I'm just re-reading Sienkiewicz Elektra Assasin TPB...this piece has a very similar feel. Something about the light and the great simplicity of the metallic fabric...

Awesome pic overall, the lighting is absolutly wonderful and the composition layout as well. I really like the dirty look it has to it around the head, however, i think that it should have been extended to the nearby plants on the left side and further down the belly. it also feels like there should be more contrast around the head and a little bit brighter reflections on the gold. I only saw that because when you first look at this you are automatically pulled to looking at his belly button, and it is difficult for the eye to move away from there since his belly keeps sucking you back into it(hehe, that sounded funny).
It is hard to crit the anatomy since this is a different species of creature than human, but the arms seem a bit long (especially the left one), and the body seems somewhat circular than i would think it would be if he was sitting down. I would see it as more of an oval and since he probably has large legs also, then they would be pushing up on his underbelly when he sits. and he doesn't loook very happy for being in a paradise place. i guess he is sad that he can't go swimming in the pool with all of the amazon jungle chicks.

well, that is about all i can crit on. I wasn't expecting to even pull that much out of it. such and awesome piece of work... i always enjoy seeing your paintings. keep it up!

This is sorta cool but very vage. I wonder why you left out the colors from the head and yet put them on his clothes. I would have chosen to the opposite.

I like the colors in the background, as well as the leafy textures.
The whole thing reminds me of the diffusely lit lady with the basket, which could be my fav pic I've seen from you.

The complete lack of texture around his belly button is weird.

Yes... very impressive use of light. I love the dimple in his belly.

He's either got really tiny hands, or mucho long arms.

Very nice. I like the subject. and the colours(offcourse). Is this one done traditionally or is it digital? It really looks like oils to me. One thing that i think
looks a little weird is his arms.
Since he's fat maybe the arms could be thicker. Love the light that hits his belly.
