GreenPeach, I hate you. Your work makes me feel downright stupid. I look at parts of it and I can't even figure out how you did it. What resolution did you work at? The pic must be HUGE. |

Jeez, that's amazing! How did you get such good detail on it?! It's perfect and damn realistic, want to explain in a small overview of what exactly you did? |

Vesuvius, that shows just how little reasearch you've actually done... H.P. Lovecraft based his entire Cthulhu Mythos loosely off the content of The Necronomicon. The literal pronounciation of "Cthulhu" is "Kutulu" -- An ancient Sumerian deity. I could draw out far more coincidences for you, but considering I've been studying this nearly religiously for over six years from both a skeptical, and an academic aspect...I know enough to support what I said. :P Email me privately if you desire further information...I don't want to ruin this thread by smacking you down too badly.

Wow! This is a gorgeous pic! BEAUTIFUL rendering, wow! It totally looks like you were aided by a software rendering of 3d, which I mean as a compliment. I can't even begin to imagine your process in 2d photoshop. Excellent work!!
However, the floor he's standing on looks great... I mean if you look at that area right under him it totally looks like he's standing there. EXCELLENT shadows by the way. Wow.
But then the way it fades onto the background... It doesn't seem to blend well. Or rather, it looks too much like it was just blended on top.
Beautiful work though. I'm pretty blown away by this!

Wow, this is a crazy thread. Great work GreenPeach. And thank you Vesuvius, for showing me the most frightening thing I've ever seen, then leading me to the secrets of mating with a dolphin, and soon after that, immortality. Just click on Vesuvius's profile to understand everything. *WARNING- Do not go to this website if you are offended by ANYTHING extant on this planet or have been offended by something, EVER.*
Visi- I was never sure if Lovecraft's stories had any basis in reality... just a sneaking suspicion. Do you have any recommended readings or links on the subject of the Mad Arab and the Necronomicon?

first of all - WOW. that's fantastic!!
bad things- i am a HUGE alien fan and after reading most of the comics about the cute fella i can say that this guy u made is not build like the original alien. the original is much more like a skeleton ouside and not musceles. more like an insect and less like a human. and i am not a fan of how the area between the chin and the neck turned out.
good things - awsome rendering and texture work. marvelous. and about my first comment - fuck that - since the alien structore is quit a mystery anyways u can do whatever u want with it, and the alien specie is a kind that evolves easily so i guess it can form to something like that if mutated. the coloring is so good that i don't really give a damn.
fantastic work. post more. soon

Green Peaches do strange things to my system and so does this thread...
Great work! As far as comments, I agree with Ed Lee on the background suggestion. I also think his feet and nails could be tied into the floor a bit more with more shadowing. They seem to be floating a bit to me...
Once again, great work |

Wow. Y'all are generous. This is probably the most impressive image I've done but I didn't expect this response. I think you're being nice because I'm new to the forum.
I've been asked for linework and stuff. This is all I got. The pencil work was real minimal. I did most of the work (finding the light and shadow)on the computer.
The rez I worked at wasn't acually that big, just 200%. Here's a portion of that without the color. You'll see there's nothing mystifying here, I'm just paying attention to detail.
Thanks again. And by the way, I think I'll be using my real name from now on, so no more peaches.

Hi. I don't know if you're familiar at all with the demo scene, but this really reminds me of a picture you would have seen back in the good old days - mostly due to the extreme amount of detail you've put into it (which looks very nice, by the way.)
I'll give you a few crits though. First off, well, someone else mentioned it, but the way the floor and the background meet doesn't look quite right. I'm not sure what effect you were going for, whether this was supposed to be more of a design or a real scene, but in either case the fade effect you used doesn't quite work.
The composition is kind of static. Err. Let me clarify. The composition of the creature itself is, artistically, pretty good. Your eye flows over the form and is brought back around. But the composition of the picture as a whole is very static. It looks kind of like a picture you'd see in an anatomy book, almost as if there should be labels pointing to the different parts of its anatomy. Once again, I'm not sure if this is what you intended with the picture, but it would be nice to see something a little more dynamic.
Finally, as cool as it looks, the lighting isn't quite right. There are shadows being cast lots of places where they shouldn't be, for one (like the bony spikes behind/under his head.) The highlights are placed as if the light source was to his front-left, but the shadows all look like the light is directly in front of him (and above). The overall effect makes it look like parts of him are black, as opposed to being in shadow.
Also, (once again I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a scene or a design), if he's actually supposed to be standing in front of that background, there would be a whole lot of ambient light illuminating most of his body. Or at least you'd see some backlighting.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Somehow I doubt you're going to go back and rework any of this, especially since you've spent so much time on the details. But keep it in mind for your next piece. |

This is splendid ! :) Yeah, kinda static but so what.. Looks like a naturalist drawing for a new specie :) How comes you managed tomake him stand still while you were drawing him ? *I never succeed at that :p*
*two thumbs up*
