this is the reason for my lack of posting stuff for a while. I really think it's my best picture so far (although I hope to top it soon )
closeup of face (duh)
closeup of sword (at an unfinished stage)
I'm quite happy with it

Good stuff Periadam! I really like this. My only crit is that the dragons head seems to be floating. Perhaps grounding it by showing some it's neck? Personal preference perhaps.
Keep it up!

very nice, the face looks a little devoid of expression, but otherwise great (oh, and aren't the drow lead by women?) |

Ayyh Perry, thas some nice work there. Now remember those charming heat seeking eyes those drow have...
And, if youre so inclined, work on the expression a little more. Because a scowl is apparantly the easiest expression to draw. |

Periadim: Nice to have you posting here again! It's been worth the wait. I like the cool, icy atmosphere to it, and the attention to texture and detail is excellent.
My only criticism is with the composition. Both the Dragon and the King seem 'seperated'. It's as if the viewer isn't sure which one is supposed to be the main attention seeker. It might be an idea to bring the dragon down so that they both overlap a bit and have the dragon's head slightly at an angle(i.e. looking away or to the side). Just to break up the vertical composition a bit.
Apart from this very minor (and probably merely personal) crit, a really nice piece of work.

Hola hola,
This is pretty neat, I really like the dragon =) I have a few crits though!
1. Try not to shade with black, everything looks a tad dirty (mainly the skin on the king)
2. The highlights on the hair are really bright, they reflect as much as his armour does and that seems a little odd.
3. The light source looks pretty straight on, but I think you could add a lot of drama to your pic if you threw in some light from another angle - maybe underneath?
4. Might look nice if you through in some spots of different colors. Right now it's very monotone, which is the look you seemed to have been going for, but I think a few splashes of red or green in the shadows might look neat.
Hmm... I also forgot the mention that I really liked the sword design and the hands

Zoso: I noticed that too and I tried working on it a bit. Kind of tricky though. If I get something that works better with the neck I'll post it.
Vesuvius: I wouldn't know about the drow. you could very well be right
Shaded: thanks I was going for expressionless though.
ceenda: you're right about the composition, but I think the fact that you probably have to scroll a bit through the browser to see it all inhances it. if you see it all at once it's really very minimal. I'm working on it though.
Jezebel: Thanks for the crits, but I actually didn't shade with black. It_was_very dark and not too saturated, so I see how it looks like I did though.
thanks all

Very good! it has a great mood to it.
actually, the king does have an expression, or so it seems from the whole picture (the first one). |

Ahh the purples and blues, how I love them so.
You have done a really great job here Periadam. I love it.
Love the foggy clouds and the glowing eyes.
I think the comment above about the hair highlighing is correct, maybe tone it down just a tad.
Other than that I love it!
