Here's some stuff I've done. I'm in game art but traditional drawing isn't really "what I do". This first giant guy was done using a rough model I posed in Lightwave to get my perspective right. Sad thing is it still looks a hair off, hehe. The pics below that show the sketch and the actual posed stick-dude.
I'm not really happy with the head, the one on the sketch below was much more promising before I started to draw the final one. Specifically the angle bugs me as it should of been looking up more to get the massive perspective I was trying to get. Mainly I just didn't leave it well enough alone and overworked it.
If anyone wants the little model setup I'll be happy to send it along, just leave an email. Really it's nothing you couldn't do in poser, I just prefer the camera stuff I'm used to.
Here's some marker and blueline (greyscaled now) junk I did earlier as well as a sample character pose I was going to use and decided not to.
Bash away!

Hey Eep!
First off I know what you mean about the energy in your initial sketch. I think they're both good though and I think your "final" one would be worth spending some time to color in painter or photoshop! I can just picture that guy with a really RED beard for some reason.
And you have great detail in the shapes that make up the drawing - color would help differentiate them further and make them stand out more.
You got the important parts right, like the hands and face. They look particularly good and they're often the hardest parts of a sketch to work on.
And those spiked shoes are killer. So I have no complaints, I'd just love to see it colored!
Your little walking toaster guy is pretty funny! I'd like to see him walking around, animated. Kinda reminds me of some of the wackier A-Nox designs. (Is that game going to ship, ever?!!!)
The "bitter bee" is a nice drawing, very nice rendering with the markers.
Anyway, if you have like an art page or whatever, keep both of the giant drawings shown together - the rough and the final. It's fun to see both together.
very nice, sorry for rambling

I actually kind of pictured him like that shot of Tom Hanks in Cast Away where he's all skinny and hairy, standing on the rocks after spearing that fish. Of course what I picture and what comes out are a world apart, hehe. If I get around to it I'll try and do a color rendition, maybe from another angle. Right now I'm focusing on some high detail models for ye olde' portfolio, which is what I actually do well instead of just messing around with this stuff. |
