Finally got around for this one too. The conan publisher liked the headless horseman so much, she wanted him turned into a conan, thus hte head, and finally a more wild horse, and a cover format of course. It`s a bitt wide for that, but I kept the woods around for my liking since it gave more depth.

Hi,
Beautiful painting, love the atmosphere.
One thing is bothering me, though. When I first saw the painting, it seemed that the horse had it's head turned to the right (my right), while it was galloping to the left. But then I scrolled down further, saw its legs and realized, no, the horse is riding towards the right of the computer screen.
I think the fold in the right side (my right side) of the horse's neck, seems to me a bit excessive, as if the horse has it's head turned all the way to the right (once again, my right). And the horse's neck seems a tad too long, and tad too thin, methinks.
Hope that helps. I could be wrong though, so if anyone else would either confirm or deny this, it would be great.
Otherwise, beautiful painting, and nice job ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/smile.gif) |

great work I just see one thing that could be fixed. The way he's holding the axe looks wrong. Either the hand is at an odd angle relative to the axe or the axe is at an odd angle relative to the hand. I think it's the hand. |

I read some of these coments and I wonder if the forest is being seen through the trees. I mean. I think the paining looks great. Far better than what I can do, so I dont realy feel like im one to poke around and say what is right or what is rong. Yes the ax looks a tad wrong in his hand if I sqwint at it hard enough. I like the feel of this painting. It looks very compleat and fineshed. maybe I should be critisizing the hourses neck. I dont know but when I i opend the file and looked at it, i thought WOW! end of story for me. I also like the shine in his armor. Its nice and warm. Where as the painting is cold and dark and scary. Very fine work my friend. |

Light...
My mails down! I`m installing win2k to get photshop 6 from freezing;-) And 3dsmax 4.0 to work better too;-)
I kinda misplaced the dialup number to my isp.
Valid point too, the horses body needs a steroid shot. The editor of conan figured out the image reminded her about the movie, and wants me to put it on ice. What I`ll do is probably to change the background completly.Oh and I made some really improving changes to the "Icebear" chicks face(had to give her some character to get it sold) http://home.enitel.no/vebsart/vebsart3_gallery_icebear.htm

Thats much better then before. Hey check your mail!
Crits.. Well it looks good but the horse anatomy is weak. The shapes are good but the muscles are weak. Also, dont be afraid to beef up the horse muscles to make him appear stronger.
Other then that, looks good but you can put more colors in if you want. Adn you can change them in the darks..

one other thing.. you might check the bones on the head of the horse. I think the there should be more of a nose.

What fun to see this revision. I like the original headless version as well. I wouldn't worry about doing too many changes. This image stands up well as it is. I'd rather see you move on to another image and post it. [Hint, Hint]

Nice work as usual there Veb.
However, i'd have to agree with the others about the horses anatomy, but you know that already. Another thing that bugs me is the angle at which hes holding that axe...it seems to be leaning down too much...as if the angle between his hand anf the axe is 20 degrees whereas maybe it should be more around 70 - 90 degrees...
Dunno if you understand what im trying to say without me doing a paintover of it..
Well besides thst, its a great piece of art
Keep em coming !
