Now this I didn't expect to see.
Looks lovely, but the bright flash in the sky doesn't look like it goes along with the perspective. Do I make any sense? The sky part looks like it has a bump on it.. i don't have the words of it, if anyone sees the same thing, clear it up ok? :]
Ps. I've heard you like that color a lot :]

I think that's ok, but the general bluriness is annoying. Like a background for something more interesting. :/ |

Nice mood, but it's a bit empty. Maybe a ghost boat crossing the lake...

Francis: Nice to see you trying out landscapes! You've portrayed a really nice calm scene here very effectively. Are you going to refine it a bit?
The reflection is sitting a bit uncomfortably, but apart from that, an extremely nice departure that I hope you'll continue to develop as you work on the high detail techy stuff we know and love. |

I like it! I wonder though, if the upper right hand corner needs another stroke or two to help break up that large block of color? It seems awful "steep" for a landscape there.... or is that some tall trees? If so, I would expect they were a little closer and possibly with some more details. Just a suggestion, because it works great the way it is.

Apologies up front for the hasty paint over. I use to do a lot of images like this in water color. It's a nice feeling you create by having the haziness. However, it's equally important to throw a few details in there to offset the haziness. The composition leads us to the far end of the lake. So I put a few things there. A fisherman, a tree to his right, and a little stream leaving the lake behind and to his left. I also added some more detail and more color to the closest part. Lastly I added the shoreline reflections, which usually shine through nicely. You could go a lot farther, and do a lot better-just showing one way you could take it.

I agree you could go into detail. I first thought it was just a bunch of paint ploped on with a filter run over it (!!)
HOWEVER, on second inspection, it looked much better but rather empty as everyone has already pointed out. But its nice to see different stuff from you francis. |

Thanks for the feedback and encouragement everybody. Wasn't 100% successful, but it was definitely an experiment.
Anthony, that already looks 100 times better - thanks.

Hey, I think you're onto something here. I love the mood. This type of stuff makes me want to see what you're cookin' up next. No pressure, though. Have fun!
