The guy just lost his country along with his crown, can you blame him for being down??

Heavily inspired by the king & baron threads.. great stuff.

this is great Gecko!
His face could use some defintion though. Mainly shadows (im thinking nose and mouth part, probably the chin too), and some more skin tones. He looks a little like a wooden statue, soften up some areas will help too.

gecko this is looking really nice, I love your lighting and mood with it.

There was a few minor things i noticed with the anatomy which looked kinda odd to me tho.

I did a quick cut and paste and transform to show you what i mean, namely smaller head to exaggerate the perspective a little more and his body widened a little, also left foot a touch thinner. I hope you don't mind.

Wow, that's cool, Gecko!! I really love the mood, lighting and pose. But I have to say my favorite are the whispy curtains in the background. ;} Good job!

My only crit is my mantra: MORE DETAILS!!! ;} heeh. But then again, from me, I'm sure you'd demand nothing less. ;}

Post more! More! ;}

Gecko, I like it the way it is. It seems like if he's turned into wood and has become part of the throne. Or maybe the king carved this himself so that he would not have to face sitting at a throne with no one to rule. That would explain the off-proportions.

Love the color palette.

cos: good points. Didn't see the need for narrowing the foot down, though. I think the exaggaration allows big legs.

klaivu: wtf? shouldn't you be posting some stuff?

digimar: I love that explanation! The king must be outside taking care of the garden..

binke: I'm sorry but digitalmar already offered the perfect reason. No, really, I see what you mean. Can't do much better than that yet, so I settled with it to get the pic finished. I WILL GET THERE SOONER OR LATER! Sorry, just kicking myself in the arse.

merekat: Aaaagh! I agree with the detail part, but I gotta learn where to add them, and which parts are better left alone with less definition.

I like the reds, his right leg. Ugh and the guy has the same blown out effect as the pelican...hmm. I guess it's not totally bad thing, need to correct it somehow though.

Some real nice lighting and colour here Gecko! I think perhaps there's some shadow missing on the purple seat behind his head? Also, the pattern along the sides of the chair seems too contrasted, making me thing that it is a painted pattern and not actually shadows.

These crits aside, very nice work!

i dunno.... i think i'd go for a more basic but accurate anatomic structure and... PUT AN EAR ON! :-)

besides that i like it. maybe add a braid on the back of his head or something to add charecteristics to the guy. oh, and an ear :-)
