Cool! I think the diagonal bar going across makes the composition nice... The split face is almost reminescent of Francis Bacon's paintings.

When I lived in Dallas I was able to see an enormous exhibition of Francis Bacon's works. It was fabulous, seeing some of his most famous works in real life, as well as tons that I'd never seen printed in books.

ANyway... I like it. I particularly like that you don't have an enormous signature on it. A lot of the pictures posted here are hurt by putting really big signatures in the corners that detract from the paintings.

One idea is that you could have countered the diagonal in the foreground with a diagonal going the opposite direction in the background. Or possibly put the guy a little further to the right.

ANd his left arm is good but the right arm seems to be at a bad angle, unless you wanted that.
it's a cool pic though.
lots of energy.

I like it a lot! Now finish it. Then post it in the Finished Work Forum.

dude, i love your figure(s) here. im not quite sure of the content, but the sketchy, gestural style of this makes it great.

again, i dont know about the content, but i would really like to see the other face coming out fo the back of th male figure's head be human as well. Im guessing that this thing is turning into a man because of coffee? hmmm

oh, i love the hand (the most rendered one - from the beast's arm). i would like too see the figures in the back worked more though... it does seem incomplete with them jsut being lines there.

btw, i checked out your site, and i think this is very different from teh other stuff you have done. Those figure studies - were they all digital? or is that marker? or paint? never the less i really love them.

this piece here is different than some of the stuff here, but i also really love doin classical drawings, i have a few up on my site as well.

i dont know if you are finished working on this or not, but i think it needs a little bit more "pushing" to make it complete.

Incredible MGC: Wow, Francis Bacon, huh? All that's missing is a side of beef... Seriously, I like Francis Bacon. We have a couple pieces of his here in Chicago. I do like his textures and ethereal surrealism.
I usually forget to sign my work. It's a bit of a bad habit, but okay i guess.
I take your point of the cross diagonals - the movement and energy of the lines almost takes you out of the picture, and some cross lines or repositioning could help ground it all.
And very nice work on your website as well.

Root, Guy: I do think it is finished and able to stand on its own, but as Moose said, I could push it further, experiment even more.

Duckman: Well, work such as that of Craig or Loki get lots of comments and glowing praise. More experimental work like mine usually gets a lukewarm response at best, so I'm a bit nervous when I post my work. But you're right, I should give all of you the benefit of the doubt.

Moose: Thanks for the kind words on my gestural style. A lot of my pieces are like this, maybe I didn't put so many on my website for variety's sake, but I like working in all sorts of styles, including classical renderings. Everything on my site is done digitally except for the bass technique book illustrations.
