Did this today in about two hours, saw Spooge's movie a minute ago, holy crap, hehe, but anyways, just trying to work from a limited color palette and trying to establish mood.
These are the good guys believe it or not. They have made an emergency landing on a planet, they think is New Eden, their planned destination, but which they find out is far from the truth.

Wow. Another cool piece! I like working up monochromatic pieces too, especially when I'm trying to establish a mood or just working on the concept or composition. This one has great depth --I especially like the slip out of focus area on the back of the ship. It might be a little exaggerated but it's pretty cool looking. Nice design work on the ship too.

v1510nAry: Thanks, they're scouting out the area. The ship is surrounded by dense forest on all sides.
Pat: Thanks again I'm learning a lot more about color and lighting than I really thought possible, simply by limiting the number of colors I use, plus it works well for a concept painting that is meant to establish mood. The ship design I'm going to modify heavily, I like some aspects of it, but I think I'm capable of creating something more original.

CrakBEENie: That's a great name btw. It's going to sort of be a graphic novel, kind of a way to present my portfolio, I may present it as a movie trailer instead. Not sure yet.
Pat: Not really, just a really cool story, that's pretty much all in my head. hehe. along with a few others.
