Very cool. I like it a lot. I would like to see maybe a chopper or something going down or smoking. Not really necessary, but would give it more of a war feel. Nothing to crit, everything looks perfect. I am glad you noticed how helicopters really fly too...They aren't really straight....they are leaning forward...

This one is a really great picture. There is only one little tiny thing I found by searching for something that might be wrong.

The second helicopter looks a little like a copy of the first one. Perhaps you should draw one of them in a little different view (angle? don't know which word fits here).

What's about an Internet page? Want to see more of these!!!

i have now seen the image.

all it took was numeours attempts at saving teh file with lynx and not finding the .jpeg on the (s)hell account, a wget, then emailing the image to myself from the shell account, and looking at it.

I agree with everyone else, that painting is cool. Although I am a little curious about the similarities between the two. I'm not accusing anyone of anything just curious

Amazing work! This is EXCELLENT...

*Lights go out* Whroooot! Whroooot! Wrooot!
*Low, red emergency lights come on* "Warning! Serious Talent Alert. All artists please report to briefing room immediately!"

And, actually I _much_ prefer the work of the Russian Commando. This is because the AK-74 assault rifle he holds looks much better (especially in the proportions) than the ridiculous Colt Commando/ AR-15/ whatever that the other rendered dude has (WAY too big, makes the soldier look like a pygmy!). The fact that the SpetzNaz trooper's illustration is more consistent in terms of it's technical execution as well as the quality of the composition (proportions, postures, the flight of the choppers as mentioned previously) means I have to rate it much higher - especially if there is some funny business going on! I say - go LEO!

PS: More mechs too please! In fact, post more stuff of any kind - it's awesome!

Ok... look at this poster for the commercial game project currently being in development. It's a 3D scene rendered in 3DMax. Soldiers are models too, of course. Look and compare...what is firstprimary source, what do you think? ;<

P.S. This picture IS NOT the property of Action Forms Ltd.

i think Leo drew both pics.. because filename for second one is 'plakat' which is russian for 'poster'.
Very cool.. but Leo, spetz naz has different type of uniform.

Sorry Shizo, but I know the guy who made the render personally, and he lives and works in Ukraine,Kiev instead of Russia. That was the reason of reply...

I think I remember Leo with great artwork for so long now.... and I just don't think that he is the one who has to copy something because he's not able to do it himself...

Gotta admit that the 3DMAX render looks like the inspiration/reference for the painted version (I say this because it's much easier to paint a scene rendered in MAX than to build and texture models and entire scenes in order to mimick a painting)but this is definitely not an out and out copy. I can't knock his painting. Great work. Good work on the choppers (it'd be neat to see one closer up) and especially the tracers and the a-k. Keep that smack up.

Ow i'm here... let's see.

Yeah theDANGLER was right - this max render was used as an inspiration source. My mistake is that i didn't drop a link to render first, i'm very sorry. But THAT'S all.

The story.
I surfed at www.render.ru gallery (which i'd like to visit from time to time) - all their works are 3d renders - no way for 2d. Most of artworks are poor of ideas but Venom pict i've found interesting. Interesting to play with, not to copy. I wanna drop a comment for author later but these guys was faster. I will not fight or flaming or try to defense... At least i did it just for fun not for the profit.

peace,
leo

OMG, so what if that was Leo's inspiration!! Jeez... I think it's lame that it's even being questioned.

Leo, your piece is about 20 times better than the rendered image. Good work, you've definitely got skills

I agree with Jezebel on this one - I love Leo's piece and while I can see that the poster was the inspiration/reference for the piece, it definitely ISN'T an out-and-out copy.

Leo, your work is incredible! The tracers are amazing, the clouds breathtaking and the chunky smoke effects really add to the atmosphere. Very nice.
